From firstshowing.net:
"That's it! If this rumor turns out to be completely true, then I'm proclaiming that The Avengers is probably going to be the most epic comic book movie in modern history. Our good friends at Latino Review have picked up two very interesting scoops related to Iron Man 2 tonight. First, they say that Tim Robbins has been cast in the role of Howard Stark, Tony's father, for a very important flashback scene that will setup The Avengers movie. Second, they add that apparently both Hawkeye and Black Widow will appear in the film - but not as cameos. Obviously the execs are Marvel are already planning for one hell of an Avengers movie, because now it seems both Hawkeye and Black Widow will eventually join the team as well."

I'm really excited by this! Especially having read the first two Ultimates storylines (Did ANYONE read Ultimates 3 past the first two isssues?). I just hope when Avengers does come out, it's not overkill. It seems as though they're sticking with the core semi-original lineup, which IMO has always been the strength of the Avengers.

No.

First two issues or first two storylines? I think I got as far as them locking
up Thor because of Loki's shenanigans.

I got really uninterested in anything dealing with the Ultimate universe when I heard Deadpool was pretty much not Deadpool.

Killed it for me.

That was in Ultimates II (each volume is 12 or 13 issues). He was talking about Ultimates III which was done by an entirely different team than I and II and is just terrible.

I've read the whole series... I thought they were pretty good, though III was a little wonktacular.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;

I read all three of the Ultimates storylines, though I read 3 mostly because my subscription from, like 4 years ago still hadn't run out.

The first two stories were pretty ace. The third? Meh. Steve Rodgers is the Black Panther? Valkyrie just shows up? Ultron has daddy issues? No Vision?Hawkeye uses a gun? Blah.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

That sounds like being different for the sake of being different. Like those weird
Dune prequels where they said the Harkonnens were good guys and the Atreides
were bastard traitors. If there's a good reason, fine, but don't just do it just to
do it.

I can't help but think this movie will be a major comprimise.

Ultimates 3 in a nut shell: Jeph Loeb cannot tell Hawkeye and Bullseye apart and Joe Mad still struggles with the storytelling aspects of comic book art.

I enjoyed Ultimates for some time until the 2nd X-men crossover which was imo pretty lame.

As for the Avengers movie, I'm not sure what to expect. Iron Man was great, and Superhero movies usually get a lot better in part 2 since you have all the character introducing out of the way.
I think the main problem with a huge Marvel crossover movie, would be getting Thor right. Iron Man, Cap and Hulk are still very "grounded" heroes, but Thor always shifts the power balance too much imo.

I would totally love to see Cap and Tony face off against the Hulk. Let's just hope they get Norten back on board. I head he wasn't really satisfied with how the incredible Hulk turned out.

At least box office success with Spider-Man and the rest means that these
won't be cardboard budget films. That doesn't mean they'll be good, but they'll
have more opportunities and fewer excuses.
