Ok, so, I've been trying forever to get a campaign together for my group (about 12 people or so if everyone gets in on it)...

The problem is I lack a lot of the creativity needed to write up something that simply doesn't seem to exist. I've searched google and found almost nothing good...

So, I'm turning to you fine folks here at DakkaDakka

What I'm hoping will come out of this will be something akin to a turn based strategy game similar to Risk... Where you have territories and the ability to purchase reinforcements and/or upgrade your territories. Then, the armies would fight it out to conquer other territories... Not sure if this is really viable... But that's what we're here to find out.

RULES FOR CREATION:
1) No altering stats of models for any reason. This means no lvling system, no adding points to MAT for having certain items... This just gets too hard to track sometimes.

2) No carrying over dmg from one game to the next. Again, sometimes finnicky to track.

3) (For those feeling particularly helpful/daring) Special scenarios will be made for armies without warcasters. (Infantry / Jack Marshals). I see this as somewhat realistic as Warcasters/Locks won't ALWAYS be in the battle... However, Caster/Lock less armies should be forbidden from attacking. SO, with special scenarios, the defender will have to make up for not having a leader by having a sizeable advantage in the field.

I know that I'm not giving much to go on here, but please bare with me. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. When we're done, we'll have given birth to a true player-created campaign that we'll all enjoy running (And, since it'll be a new game every time, you won't have to worry about a repetative story background.)

Well, time to pop the old cherry on Dakka Dakka!!

Best advice is to look in the rule books. You'll find 3 sets of campaigns (in 3 different books). They are well thought out, and actually do have the things you're after.
The 3 books are (If I remember correctly - it could actually just be the first 2) - Hordes Evolution, Warmachine Escalation and Warmachine Superiority.

Good luck with it buddy.

There are lots of places you can look.

  • Escalation had a neat system where four players played round robin, with the top two players playing a big smash em up at the end.
  • Apotheosis and Superiority had map campaigns, if I recall correctly.
  • The regular privateer press leagues have nice historical scenarios with cool lists of game changing events and abilities.
  • I wouldn't be interested in a game without warcasters. There's realism and there's fun, but that's a matter of personal taste
