Guys, I hope this is ok to post. Here is the link to a cool new website I created that custom cuts foam trays to fit all types of minis. We also personalize the trays with custom text and images of your choice. Prices are good and the foam trays for large models are amazing. We can do foam trays for fantasy dragons and baneblades. Just thought you guys would want to know about this. Later WWW.BATTLEFOAM.COM

I don't think this is an inappropriate thread, but you don't have to disguise the fact that it's your site.

That said, the gallery pics look like quality stuff. Do you do up the foam cuts yourself?

The foam looks good,
I couldn't care less if it's your site, putting it in a thread is a good way to get it out there (then buy advertising space, works for Ultraforge!!)

The prices are a little dear,
but I suppose so are all the foam cases and pieces I have ever seen/bought/wanted.

Good luck,
good job

Ok, so I changed the word THEY to We. I hope everyone understands I never meant to mislead anyone. Its not always a good idea to take credit for everything you create. Sometimes the best kind of people are the people that never take credit for anything they accomplish. I hope this does not keep you guys from taking advantage of our service. We want to be a helpful source for people to find foam trays that will protect their items. Everyone including myself at BATTLE FOAM hope to hear from you guys in the future. Thanks

Good eye, friend. A guy on Warseer (is it you? fattdex? ) noticed the same thing.

I'll say what I said there. Trays are freaking expensive, and so are the Sabol trays but the appeal of the Sabol trays in my opinion is that you can personalize them yourself, I couldn't imagine paying even more than that for pre-cut foam. It's a pain doing it myself, but so is washing the car and I'm not about to pay twice as much to save myself a few minutes of work. I dunno, some people might like it, personally they aren't for me, and knowing that you were being dishonest and trying to advertise your site for free under the guise of a regular gamer who just stumbled on "these guys" by accident, I don't feel inclined to do business with you. This is a VERY BAD WAY to make a first impression and I would be surprised if people trust you enough to give you their money after that.

You don't like paying people to wash your car? I mean, if you had like hot wheels or micro machines then sure... but I've got a Range Rover, if anyone wants to clean that cars ass for £5, I'm happy to pay them!!

Oh, and cool foam, I'm not going to buy any, that would be silly, you're on a different tectonic plate, but it's all cool.

i was interested in that 40 model count 1 inch tray to save space in my AT bag. that tray would be the only one that is probably worth it. space is very valuable to me because i live in an apartment and am running out of room to put my gaming stuff. one of these trays will take the place of two of the "pluck trays". that would save me a whole motor pool sized bag and help em carry my whole army in one bag, just about.

but i noticed, when i went to order, that your site isn't secure when it asks for CC info. that's a big no no. Sell them on ebay, take paypal or get a secure page.

stinkoman, we are working on putting a HTTPS for that page. I can assure you that the site is completely secure in every way. You credit card information does not get auto run when you submit your order. The reason for that is because we have many young customers that sometimes get ahold of you know who's credit card. We always verify the order is logit and then manually key in the order at the shop. This allows an extra set of eyes to check the order and make sure everything is ok. We can process your order in a couple of ways if you are still interested in the 40 man tray. You can call us direct or you can submit your order leaving the credit card information as zeros, and a specialist will contact you within 24 hours. Hope this helps. Take care.

Yes, we cut all the foam ourselves so we always check for quality and fit. If anyone ever receives a bad foam tray we replace it no questions asked. Thanks for the post.

Part of the fun in owning a car. And if it gets scratched its my own fault.

Now if only I could apply that philosophy to painting my army.

First things first here. I have had occassion to do business with diablobats in the past. Not for foam, but I had a need, he came through for me in the clutch, and I provided remuneration. I was extremely satisfied with the transaction. It was not for any company he's created, a part of, whatever, purely personal. He came through for me, and I thank him still to this day.

As for all you folks jumping all over him for shameless self-promotion; you're right. He's trying to promote his business interest. So what. He's CERTAINLY not the only one on dakka doing that, and I don't see many people telling Gorillatactics to limit his infomercial posts merely to his purchased adspace on the site. Not that I have a darn thing against Gorilla, but apply your standards to everyone or no one. By applying standards unevenly, you are merely advertising your own biases, not putting any leverage on diablobats. You are not achieving your goal, try something else prehaps?

Warpcrafter: You mean that if you started a business, and created a product that you thought people might want to buy because it might be helpful to them, you wouldn't try to tell people about it via word of mouth or some similar method? Really? For true? The best advertising cannot be bought with cash, son. Every business has to start somewhere.

Sidstyler: Everytime someone starts a thread asking about where to buy minis online, a host of people speak up about expoeriences they have had with different vendors. This is good because dakka is, in addition to other things, a very broad and experinced source of information. I would like to offer my own testimony right now, in that I had a transaction with diablobats, and I felt I came out of the deal very well. I was very satisfied, and had zero problems. I realize that a single case is no real data pool at all, but I also think I am one of the few around who can say they have had ANY transactions with diablobats. Journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. If anyone HAS had a bad experience with him, I really hope they speak right up in this thread, and other places. Fair is fair.

stinkoman brings up a good point. one complaint about Sabol I have always had (but, to be fair, the ONLY complaint!) is that while it is REALLY customizable, you lose a huge amount of density of packing models into a case with their system. Per unit area, GW cases hold more of the smaller, basic-infantry sized models than Sabol. You go try an pack a skink heavy army into Sabol cases and you will quickly se what I mean, if you are packing each skink into it's own little compartment in the foam. Just another point to think about.

You get longer cases, cut the foam into single line strips and place
vertical models into them upside down with the base holding the mini
up. Someone showed this to me and it seemed like a great system.

They were larger PP models, though.

I'm with Sidstyler on this one. If he would have come right out and said that he was advertising something, that would have been alright. That having been said, I would probably buy a couple of the GW foam inserts. Sure, they're a bit pricy but it seems worth it. I can't really reccomend that you not be so reactionary in the future, because I am guilty of that myself from time to time, but 'son'? Really?

Holy cow people, I edited the original tread. It was read by 5 people when I changed it to point out I was the creator of the site. Who cares. Let me guess, you guys have never wanted to be anonymous when doing something on a public form. Come on now fells, lets get real here. Nobody including myself ever wanted anything more then to shed some light on a cool new service. We may not be for everyone, but we will surly treat every customer we get with total respect and consideration. I hope that some of you will return that favor to me when replying to this post. After all, its just fun wargaming not politics or religion we're talking about here. Guys good luck to all of you, and we will always be here to help.

warpcrafter: If the 'son' part offended you, then I retract it. I was under the impression that I was speaking to someone young. That is not meant as a slight or statemnet of maturity or anything like that, but a reflection of why I put it in. Would it be better for you if I edited the original post that had that in it?

As far as sidstyler, well everyone is entitled to their opinions. I respectfully decline to agree. HOWEVER, I will caveat that by saying that diablobats had evidently already edited the post by the time I read it. Took a few minutes to figure out what all the hub-bub was about.

Not sure what you mean about reactionary. I had a lot to say, mostly because the "jumping" was a bit of a departure in my opinion. In my opinion, FWIW, it's 'nerd rage' when someone starts CAPS screaming about how their Tau is too are much betterer than your pansy marines ROOOAAARRR!!11!! However, callingsomeone dishonest in business is a whole different matter. That's closing in on real world, very much so. Someone wants to nerd rage about their army rules or something, that's one thing. Start jumping people when they are trying to conduct business, and that is no longer nerd rage.

I think you should get real. You were attempting to be less than forthright as a business owner, got caught, and people are dog piling you a bit. Frankly, I'm shocked there isn't a more vociferous response.

We all know about stealth marketers, and that's what you were doing. It's a lousy practice, as it essentially tries to create and exploit trust. You may not have had malicious intentions, but what you did looks (and IMO is) shady. Dakka has always been very supportive of new firms and their products, so I can't imagine any reason to have "wanted to be anonymous when doing something on a public forum." You're announcing your new business, not trolling for deviant sex!

I wish you, your product, and the company all the best, but please understand that what you tried to do was insulting to the community.

Polonius, I'm originally from Cleveland Ohio. I went to St. Ignatius High School and lived on W. 69th And Detroit Ave. I still have family in Cleveland and always game when I see them in the summer. Maybe we can get a game in at your local game store in the future to show you that I'm an upstanding guy. I know you ripped me in your post, but I'm not here to make enemies. Maybe my green tide can take on your army for bragging rights. Wish you well my friend.

Diablobats has been a member for nearly a year, so he didn't join just to promote his site.

It would have been better to come straight out and show the site is his. That has been changed, so now everyone knows the situation. The service look potentially useful to members.

Dakka welcomes posts of this kind because it is useful information for the community. This is the News forum after all.

Once the post is locked, it will fall down the forum priority list. This is different to a real advert which stays at the top the whole time.
