Is there a topic/place for Rules Questions relating to WM/H? If not, there should be.
Well, here's my question:
Does Captain Bart's upkeep spell Hot Shot allow a Mariner to boost all the rolls to hit and dmg from its AOE attack? Does it allow boosts to a second shot via Bart's Broadsides spell?
Feel free to answer/post questions of your own.
(I just kinda hope/wish WM/H got its own section like 40k and WHFB. That way, we'd have our own subsection just for rules questions.)

Not to hit, just damage rolls. And yes, I think it does work for Broadsides shots.

The best place to look for answers for you Rules Questions is PP WARMACHINE & HORDES rules questions forum.
Especially as the answers you get there are considered fully official.

Agreed, but I like exercising my rules knowledge here. There I just become
too tempted to look it up via Search.

Using a "Feralgeist / Cannoneer gets boosts to ALL rolls, including blast dmg" ruling on the PP forums, my conclusion is that Hot Shot will do the same for a Mariner.
So, to answer my own question, "Yes, the mariner would get all his ranged dmg rolls boosted, including those from AOE blast dmgs made due to ranged attacks." Also, "Any ragned dmg rolls from other attacks would recieve boosts as well as long as Hot Shot is upkept on the target."
Yay for research.
They need to make Solos/Units a part of the battlegroup. Broadside's Broadside + Alten Ashley killing 1/3 of a beast in a single shot is just TOO tastey. As is Eiryss disrupting two jacks a turn... And Kell Bailoch killing off three single-wound infantry. (Ok, that last one's kinda 'meh'... but you get the point)

That's probably not going to happen.
There are too many abilities that, if extended to a battlegroup, would
simply make warjacks even rarer.

Yeah, I know. But Bart would be so much more army oriented... As is, Crow is the only spell he's got that you'd want to use on your own unit/solo. His offensive spells are merely ok... And his 6 focus isn't really enough for more than 2 jacks... So, taking him in games higher than 500 points or so gets kinda tricky unless you've got some infantry that are great without 'caster support. The problem with that is the Sea Dogs (the main unit to take with Bart) AREN'T that unit. They need at least a hundred of poimts of support if the 'caster can't help and that just makes them cumbersome.
Just a few spells... Or just a simple shift of the definition of Battlegroup... Is that too much to ask?
Yeah, I know, this is a useless rant. I love Bart and my 750 point pirate army. I'm good with it the way it is... But a guy can dream...

I think the point of the matter is that if you look at the three pirate
warcasters, one is balanced, one focuses on troops and one focuses on
warjacks.
Shae --Infantry
Fiona-- Infantry/Warjacks
Bart-- Warjacks/Infantry
The other thing is, bart's abilities were made for ranged Warjacks, and
Hot Shot was made for ranged AOE warjacks in particular. The way he's
built to support his warjacks isn't through focus, but through Broadside,
Batten Down the Hatches, and Rouse.
If they change the wording for battlegroup chances are they're going
to rewrite abilities that formerly said battlegroup to say warjack instead.
So either way you'd be getting blocked.
And believe me, you don't Amon's Synergy spell to survive intact for
Protectorate infantry Swarms. Can you say Choir Acolyte hitting you
for P+S16?

Too true... Too true.
Pirates already get a unit with 3 P+S 15 hits. But that needs a few extra solos to pull off. Also, I've seriously reconsidered going back on my oath not to buy any more pirates... I'm thinking Walls, Hawk, and a unit of Press Gangers might not be terrible... *Sigh*

Nope, not terrible at all.
In fact, they are fantastic, and PP made sure to make them work fantastic
together so that if you thought you were "splashing" your army lists with
some pirates, you were going to have to cash in big to get the most out of them.

Well, I wasn't "Splashing" (gotta love the M:tG lingo) pirates in my Cryx lists... I made a shooty pirate list... But now I'm rethinking it and looking at saying "What the hell" and just going gung-ho pirates. It's only a few more purchaces..... Right? RIGHT? *Sighs*
