Mission: Objectives
Deployment: Dawn of War
I win the role to go first and decide to take it just for the heck of it.
Eldar Deployment: He deploys the pathfinders in a large building in the northeast corner. The rangers are placed centrally in a large patch of trees. The avatar places himself between the two units creating his fearless bubble.
Daemons Turn #1
I pick all 3 heralds, and all 3 daemon princes to come in. At this point I don't know what else he has in his list but I want to try to pick off the avatar. I get the wave I want. I place the chariots in a semi-circle about 18-24 inches out they land mostly on target but one of the scatters 8 inches straight forwards. It's now about 14 inches away from his avatar and about 8 away from the pathfinders in the building. I deepstrike 1 daemon prince near the rangers, one deviates right next to the avatar, and another one right near the other chariot that scattered forwards. 6 bolts of tzeentch and 18 daemonic gaze shots later the last
dp managed to put 2 wounds on the Avatar and kill it. My opponent started pulling out models when I realized that I forgot about the night fight. So I told him to stick the avatar back on the table so we could measure ranges and I could role night fights. And the avatar came back from the dead with one wound left

. So much for my idea of picking him off before he could do anything.
Eldar Turn #1
The warp spiders jump up next to the avatar. The war walkers and storm guardians move on behind that, with eldrad joined to the guardians. The vibro cannons come on into some terrain on the northwest quarter. The other guardian squad moves up next to them behind the rangers. The fire prism flies up 12 in front of the vibro cannons. Shot's come in from all over the place and I end the turn losing one herald on a chariot and a daemon prince with a couple more wounds scattered around. He uses his assault move on the spiders to move them forwards I think this was done to keep my remaining princes from being able to attack the war walkers and eldrad in
hth.
Daemons Turn #2
Reserves coming in are 2 horror squads and 2 flamer squads. I deep strike both flamer squads near the warwalkers and guardians with eldrad. The horror's end up around middle of the table. The horror squads open up and kill 8 out of 10 of the warp spiders. The flamers put 6 templates into war walkers and and guardians. 2 war walkers and 12 guardians die. Leaving the warlock, one dude, and Eldrad. Daemon Prince assaults the rangers killing 3 and running down the rest of the squad. The heralds and shoot down the rest of the warp spiders and the avatar.
Eldar Turn #2
The guardians move up and unload on my doomed daemon prince and he disappears from the table. Eldrad the warlock and 1 guardian assault both squads of flamers. He hits and wounds with a total of 5 attacks, I make one save, and then the rest of the flamers go back into the warp (but at least they took 1 guardian with them). The pathfinders open up on one of my chariots and put 2 wounds on it. The vibro cannons fail to wound but the prism hits dead on and I lose 4 horrors out of one of my packs.
Daemons Turn #3
Reserves coming in are 2 horror squads and 1 flamer squad. The flamers deviate 7 inches right into the guardians and go back into the warp waiting for next turn. . The horrors come down near eldrad and the big guardian squad. One squad of horrors opens up on eldrad and his warlock buddy putting 5 wounds on each, the warlock goes down and eldrad actually fails 2 saves (he had taken one from a perils earlier on). I had expected to have to dump the second squad of horrors into the same target. So instead they shot into the guardians along with the other horror squads when the dust settled he still had 7 guardians left (a combination of really bad roles on my part and good saves on his part). My last daemon prince charges the pathfinders, killing 4 and causing them to run. My daemon prince starts to follow them off the table.
Eldar Turn #3
His guardians shoot into my horrors killing 2. His fire prism gets another direct hit on a horror squad and I fail 7 out of 9 saves, leaving 2 left.
Daemons Turn #4
My horrors seize the objectives and light up the last guardian squad. The heralds manage to take out the prism. With the prism gone my opponent concedes the game.
Aftermath
I'm not sure how much my opponent plays eldar. He didn't know that he couldn't cast guide, fortune, and doom if he didn't start on the table. I'll admit to being surprised when he walked Eldrad on the table because if I had been playing the eldar army he would have been in one of the ranger or pathfinder squads so he could light stuff up from turn #1 onwards. His other mistake was shooting at one of my heralds early on. He ended up killing it with combined fire from other things and then thought that since it was dead the avatar was free to assault a different target. I don't think he's played against a tzeentch heavy list so I think he was expecting more assault than shooty. That's the only thing I can think of with him running the warp spiders up like that. He was also playing the virbro-cannons wrong, using the old rules where each hit you rolled on the dice increased the strength of the hits (I didn't know that it had changed with the new codex). His initially deployment was very scary looking to me. That list had a ton of shots and I definitely had to kill the war walkers and warp spiders as soon as possible.
