For 355 pts you can get an old blood who makes enemy characters strike last, rerolls too hit and can ID assasins and scouts within 20'. Why would you take a normal hero saurus instead?

Probably because he is 355pts for a character w/ low toughness, basic mat, low wounds, only four attacks, and a sh*tty save. Seems like a good reason to me.

If the War Drum and/or Sun Standard don't pass along Stubborn or Unbreakable or some such, one good flank charge on that unit will cost you about 1500 points.

Even so, it'll still be a matter of time before the unit breaks. With low initiative, you'll be striking so late in combat that many of your men will be dead before swinging.

I've never understood the fascination with Death Star units...

According to the Lizardmen rumours, there is going to be a special character named Chakax for the Temple Guard. When he is with a Temple Guard unit including a Slann Mage Priest, the unit will become unbreakable. He is a pretty nice challenger as well.

Seriously, do people bother looking before criticizing?

As to breaking, Stubborn LD 8 is the equivalent of LD 10. So low odds there. And no autobreaking from fear. Plus, it isn't *that* easy to kill T4 dudes with a 2+ or 4+ save. And they each pack 2 attacks at S4/S5. So not too shabby.

Maneuvering is its biggest weakness, but terradons should help with the fast cav and flier march blockers. No real answer for terrain except to avoid it.

Don't forget, though, that any unit trying to grind the block will be probably taking autohits from from the EotG.

I'm not a big fan of deathstars, though. Not very fun to play with or against, usually.

I'm pretty sure the wardrums make the unit immune to march blocking, so that isn't a concern.

With stubborn LD8 cold blooded, I think paying 350 points to make them unbreakable is alittle overkill, and also a waste of points.

did i say it would be easy, no, i said that i would like to see it. it was a comment as well, not a criticism.

Well you could say that for any unit. But it will be much harder to break a unit w/ static CR of 5 (probably 6 for outnumber), LD 8, ITP, Stubborn Re-Rollable.

But he sucks for a 355pt character.


Also there where some Mistakes in the origional list. (like forgetting to add points for BSB)
So here is a revised version.

Dropped the Skinks from skirmishers to blocks, minimum units just to hold table quarters.
The smaller unit of TG helps with maneuverability. The unit of saurus helps protect against flank charges.
