Well, my creative half is moving faster than my practical half yet again. With 29 bases that still need to be done and almost as many models that require painting, I've stumbled upon terrain rules and what-not for a "Broken Coast Ship" and the crane that goes atop it. (Seen here: http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Terrain+Archive ) Now, most of you don't see this as a problem... But now, even with all the work I've left to do with my army, I want to put together a display case / terrain feature in the shape of a pirate ship. The problem with this is [1] I don't know where to begin with the looks of such a ship. [2] I haven't read discriptions on / seen any pictures of any ship in the Iron Kingdoms world. [3] I don't own any of the IK rule books.

So, here we get to the reason I'm writing this thread, pleading for help. Does anyone know of any place I can get descriptions and/or pictures of any of the ships in the Iron Kingdoms? Preferably one with a crane attached? I've been searching google for hours but I'm either blind or it doesn't exist there...

Also, the "Broken Coast Ship" entry under terrain has a size (14" x 36") but this seems to clash with the crane only able to move things 8" away? (As anything moved by a crane positioned in the center of the ship, would only be able to make it 1" over the edge.) Does this mean that the crane would have to be near the edge of the ship?

The Forces of Warmachine: Pirates of the Broken Coast has some imagery
of the ships, don't know about the crane though.

That Battle College article references NQ 11 for the crane. IIRC, that was a battle report, Talion Charter vs. Khador. The pirates were assaulting a port town by sea. The crane was actually dock mounted in that scenario, but I think there was a ship the pirates deployed in.

That actual rule you found is probably from a Call to Arms scenario (The "see diagram" bit with no diagram tells me it was copypasted directly from somewhere). Unfortunately, it looks like PP took down the old scenarios, so that's no help.

This is a table of contents for all of the NQ issues. It looks like NQs 11 and 12 would be your best chance to see what the ships look like. Also the Pirates of the Broken Coast book has sketches of Shae's ship, the Talion, and Broadsides Bart's ship, whose name I can't recall.

Thanks alot you guys. Looks like I'll be pouring over the pages of the Pirates book soon enough. Also, the rules under "Broken Coast Ship" refer to a crane, which leads me to believe that there's one on board. Which is resonable, if you think about it... How are they going to move those 'Jacks on and off board in places that may not have a crane on the docks... Or that may not have docks at all? Drop an amphibious 'Jack off in the water and let it walk itself to shore!

Well, the Freebooter, Mariner and Buccaneer are amphibious jacks...

Yeah, well, I don't think they'd simply walk off the edge of the ship... How would they get out of the cargo hold anyway, if not for a crane? SOOO, that's why they've got an onboard crane. To drop them into the ocean.

I'VE FOUND IT!

Bart's Ship, The Calamitas, is HUGE. It has five deck guns, FIVE! Need I say more? This project is a daunting one...

The size the Ship would have to be to maintain scale is, frankly, too big to play on, I think...

Anyway, here's a look at it.
