I'm making an army and found that I only have room for one more jack and I wanted to choose between the Defender and Centurion.
Here's the rest of what I have and what I'm going to have soon.

-Captain Kraye
-Captain Haley
-Lancer
-Charger
-Hunter
-Ironclad
-Longgunners (UA and all)
-Trenchers (UA)
-Chaingunners
-ATGM
-ATGM captain adept
-Journeyman caster

It's about 1000 points I might be leaving something out, but since most of my list is ranged I'm inclined to go for the Defender but the Centurion would pack the melee punch I really need and Kraye is really good with melee and ranged jacks.

One last thing...What would you suggest I put in each casters battle groups? I think I'm putting my hunter with the Journeyman and probably put the two heavies in with Kraye so they can benefit from the cavalry rule and his spells. Though all the light jacks would benefit just as much from the light cavalry rules with the buffs Kraye can provide for shooting. Let me know what you think!

I would say that Kraye will run them all significantly better than Haley, but you would normally put the lancer under her to utilize the arc node.

For your jack choices, I personally prefer the Centurion due to reach and resilience.

Normally, I would say take the Centurion and give it to Kraye, but with his spell list, adding the extra ranged attack is tempting.

What about dropping the Ironclad and taking both the Centurion and Defender? I pick that choice, even though it is not listed as an option.

The Hunter works fine on the Journeyman Warcaster, but he is a little squishy. I'd be tempted to assign it to Kraye.

And I agree with Moz, give Haley the Lancer, all else to Kraye.

For future use, I'd look to pick up Mechanics and a Squire.

Take the centurion and lose the charger. You don't have to replace the charger with anything, just get rid of it.

Do you guys know that Kraye gives light jacks move shoot move ability, and has a spell which gives his battlegroup boosted ranged attack rolls for the turn. I would keep charger and give the ranged jacks to Kraye and lancer to Haley.

I would take the defender with the list as centurion is a bit slow and I think that Kraye gives more suitable to shooting jacks.

A Centurion with a Full Tilt cast on it has a speed of 8" and can run 16" - he gets faster than a Cryx bonechicken and can easily keep pace with the light warjacks. Kraye is rather a ranged-oriented caster however his feat benefits melee warjacks much more than schooting ones. I'll vote for Centurion.
