New(returned) Ork player up here in Halifax, NS, Canada.

I'm just now in the process of returning to the world of 40k after a long absence
(since 3rd edition was new) due to too many things to get into.

As you can guess from my forum name, I'm going to be playing Orks this time
instead of reviving my old footsloggin' Space Marine army the "Ground Pounders".

and, if time and funds permit, I may try to upgrade the old Imperial Guard army
I started building just before I quit for a while.

Currently I have (new):
2x Assault on Black reach sets (for the Orks)
1x Ork codex
2x Boyz box sets(20)
1x Nobz box set(5)
1x Burna/Lootas box set (5)
1x Trukk

That gives me:
2x Warbosses
60x Boyz
15x Nobz
5x Lootas or Burnas (conversion bitz)
1x Trukk
6x DeffKoptas
+ 3 old IG Chimeras to use as looted transports

I plan on converting 11 Boyz to Ardboyz by armoring them up and making them look
nastier and throwing them on the trukk with a Nob to lead them.
1 Nob will also get converted to a Big Mek immediately.

From there, I'll be picking up more Trukks and Boyz, 3 lobbas and 3 kannon (Gunz),
and hopefully some Killa Kans and a Dread to round things out. I know bikes would be
usefull but I really just don't like them personally and I'm hoping my Koptas and Kans
will pick up the slack, especially for anti-tank work.

Welcome,and a bit of advice I say get some black orks from normal warhammer and just give em' sluggas,they make cool ardboyz.Secondly orks FTW!!!

Hey! Great idea! I think I have some 20-30 old Black Orcs in the basement with my Fantasy stuff.
I'll have to take a peek and see if I can easily find them, then see how easy the arms will swap out.

from what i remember, black orks seem to fit well into basic ork arms.
