Imperial Recruit in Training

Hi all.

I hail from Brisbane, Australia and I've been playing wargames for a few years now. This has mostly consisted of Blood Bowl with Warhammer 40k being a regular sideliner. I've also played a few games of Warhammer Fantasy as well but haven't really given it much of a go.

For Blood Bowl I play Skaven but have recently started playing Dwarves in the league I play in the BABBL My dwarf team is called House of Pain and have a rap/hip-hop theme. My Skaven team is called Munster Muckrakers. So check them out if you're keen.

For Warhammer 40k I play Imperial Guard. They are the 707th Cadian Infantry Battalion and are affectionally called "The Fighting Bulldogs." That's because of their battalion mascots, a couple of dogs represented by the dogs from the Farmer Maggot model for the GW LOTR game. I believe that the IG should be able to be competative without having to rely on tanks and armour or 'mutants'. So I don't have anything 'non-human' or mechanised in my lists. I'm really looking forward to the new codex supposedly coming out in a few months.

If I start Warhammer Fantasy I'd be keen to collect Lizardmen. I've always thought they were cool but the models have been really stagnant and a bit boring. But the new releases with the new armybook look great! I picked up the new army book and have read it cover to cover and I really like them a lot.

Also keen to check out Privateer Press games (particularly Monsterpocalypse) but I've been hit by one or both of the following difficulties: I cannot find anyone who plays it to show me and/or the stock isn't coming into the country. Monsterpocalypse Starter Kits are NOWHERE I've looked and have been on the constant "It's on order" lists at a number of game stores here since the release last year. As for Warmachine and Hordes, the stock is in stores but no-one knows of anyone who really plays it.

As far as gamer type goes, I'd a HUGE fluff and story person. My Blood Bowl teams and IG army are story driven and I really like fitting my forces into narrative. With my potential Lizardman army I'd want them to be followers of Sotek who believe that Nakai the Wanderer (a character in a sidebar in the new army book but not mentioned elsewhere) is the chosen warrior of their god. So lots of cool fetishes and colour patterns for all.

Anyway, that's me. If you have any hints or tips for anything I've written about sling me a PM or reply here.

Cheers.

"It's the Imperium of MAN not the Imperium of Machine!" ~ Colonel Theodore Ganesvoort, Commanding Officer of the Cadian 707th "The Fighting Bulldogs"
