So I'm building this new IF army and wanted to test it. The army is all built but only had a terminator unit painted but I wanted to try it would and see how it fared. So I took the IF and missus took the IW's as she reckons imperial marines are "geeks" lol.

To make it interesting we used cities of death. I used the fortification stratagem and the other half used the fuel dump one. We also had two objectives as well. IF's started behind a barricade which they had the defend against IWs and a bunker in the centre of the table which gave the power generator stratagem to any army as a objective also. The fuel dump was just a small ruin which was placed next to the bunker. Barricades and razor wire was added to make a barricade for the Imperial Fists. We agreed tanks could smash a hole in it but troops would have to take a dangerous terrain test for getting caught up and sliced to bits or shot to ribbons while caught in the razorwire.

The Imperial Fists Captain looked into the distance. Scouts had relayed information that a large warband of Iron Warriors had landed on the planet some short hours ago as per intel were heading towards there location. The Imperial Fists had to defend the outskirts of the city to prevent the heretic scum of Perturabo gaining entry. Not only that a vital power generator and fuel dump lay outside the Imperial Fists defenses. The Iron Warriors would surely use this to there advantage and the Imperial Fists would have to deploy and defend the power generator bunker along with their own line

Deployment

Iron warriors rolled to go first. Each defiler was placed at opposite side of the board. Defiler 1 was by the predator and rhino with the melta marines. Defiler 2 was next to the rhino carrying the plasma marines. In between the line up was the the two flamer units, the DP taking cover behind one rhino.

IF had split into combat squads. The two RL squads had setup within a ruin along with the techmarine increasing the cover save. The heavy bolter team setup in a ruin on opposite side of the board and used the fortification stratagem to increase the cover save. The three razorbacks carrying the other combat squads were lined up along with the biker squad and land raider carrying the captain and command squad.

Round 1

Iron Warriors moved forward with the DP and one flamer squad inside a rhino heading towards the centre bunker objective. Defiler 1, the predator and melta squad head towards the fuel dump. Defiler 2 and the supporting rhinos carrying the plasma and other flamer squad head forward.

The predator fires the twin linked lascannon turret and scores only a crew shaken result on the land raider. Defiler 1 and 2 fire at both squads within the ruins but both shots scatter and miss.

The IF move forward in the razorbacks. Razorback 1 heads off with the land raider towards the on coming armour of the IW's defiler 1, predator and rhino carrynig melta squad. Razorback 2 moves to the edge of the bunker, while razorback 3 and the bikers move to intercept the oncoming defiler 2 and two chaos rhinos.

The land raider fires at defiler 1 and causes a crew shaken result. The heavy bolter combat squad target the side armour of the IW melta marines rhino and score a immoblised result. Thw two rocket launcher combat squads fire at defiler 2 scoring a weapon destroyed result, the battle cannon is chosen as the destroyed weapon The multi melta totting attack bike fires at one of the oncoming rhinos but misses.

Round 2

The flamer marines which are giving cover to the DP in the rhino disembark and try for a terrain test to climb on top of the bunker, they roll a 1 and fail to climb on top. The DP has no problems being a monstrous creatures and claims the objective. The melta marines disembark from the immoblie rhino and fire the two melta weapons at the land raider but both roll a 1 to hit! Defiler 1 fires at the heavy bolter combat squad with the battle cannon and lands on target, luckily due to the fortification stratagem only one marine fails the 3+ cover save. The other two rhinos move forward and the chaos marine armed with the flamers disembark ready to support the prince. The predator fires on the land raider but fails to do any damage.

The DP is in assault range and leaves the objective and attacks the bikers killing them all except the sgt. The sgt smacks the prince with the power fist and scores one wound. The sgt fails the morale test and is destroyed in sweeping advance.

All Imperial Fist troops disembark from the transports. The DP is now surround by two combat squads. Razorback 1 and the combat squad using it fire at the melta chaos marines and score one wound. The captain and command squad along with the heavy bolters from the land raider fire at the melta marine squad also and kill three. The land raider using the machine spirit rule fires at defiler 1 and scores a weapon destroyed result making the loss of the battle cannon. The sqaud from Razorback 2 move towards the DP and open fire scoring one wound, the other combat squad fires at the flamer marines behind the prince and manage to BBQ two IW with the flamer. The two rocket launcher combat squads fire on the prince and claim the last two wounds destroying the prince.

The captain and command squad charge the melta marines suffering no wounds and wiping out the traitor scum. They consolidate 6" onto the fuel dump stratagem ruin.

Round 3

The rhino carrying the plasma marines smashes through the razor wire barricade and the Iron Warriors disembark. The flamer squad trying to claim the objective this time roll a 3 for difficult terrain test and manage to claim the objective this time. Defiler 2 moves to to support the plasma marines while defiler 1 attacks the command squad with a heavy flamer but fails to score any wounds with the feel no pain roll thanks to the apothecary.

The predator fires at razorback 1 and scores a weapon destroyed result robbing it of the heavy bolter turret. The flamer squad on the objective cannot draw line of sight to anything though the other flamer squad which supported the prince in the previous round open fire on the combat squad which just attacked them but only managed to score one wound due to three marines being out of LOS as they was behind the rhino and not at the side like the others. The plasma marines fire at the rocket launcher squad which were holding the ground floor of the ruin, one plasma gunner rolls a 1 for the gets hot! rule and fails the save. Three Imperial Fist marines are killed in the mass bolt pistol fire.

Defiler 1 charges the command squad and captain, none of the hq unit's power weapons can affect the defiler so they use the krak grenades and score a immoblised result. The captain and command squad chose to fail the morale test and fall back 6" towards the land raider. The defiler only manages to score two hits and then rolls a double 1 to wound! The Iron Warrior flamer squad which fired at the combat squad charge in but score no wounds and two of them are killed in return though they pass the morale test to stay in combat.

The captain and command squad move towards the objective and roll a 3 to climb to the top. The squad from razorback 1 move harmlessly passed the immoblie defiler. The techmarine dettaches from the rocket launcher combat squad on the ground floor and moves towards the plasma Iron Warriors, the squad from razorback 2 (which was at the foot of the bunker objective) move in to support the techmarine. The heavy bolter squad move onto upper level of the ruin they are holding.

The captain, command squad and squad from razorback 1 fire on the flamer Iron Warriors holding the objective and manage to kill four. The heavy bolter turret from razorback 3 fires on the plasma squad and scores two wounds. The techmarine, rocket launcher combat squad on ground floor and the squad from razorback 2 fire on the plasma marines (razorback 2 squad fire bolt pistols) the rocket launcher fires a frag rocket which lands on target and a total of 2 chaos marines are killed. The rocket launcher and marines from the other combat squad in the ruin, the frag rocket scatters and lands on the chaos marine flamer squad which are engaged in combat and 2 are killed! The land raider fires at the predator and scores a immoblised result.

The techmarine and combat squad supporting charge the plasma marines and score three wounds between them and taking one on the combat squad after the chaos split attacks. The captain and command squad charge the flamer IWs holding the objective and wipe them out, but loose a command squad veteran in the melee. The combat squad engaged with the Iron Warrior flamer squad are destroyed in combat but before going to the side of the Emperor they slaughter another traitor.

Round 4

The surviving flamer chaos marines roll a 6 for the difficult terrain test and claim the bunker objective with the Imperial Fist captain and command squad. Defiler 1 moves towards the two marines from the rocket launcher combat squad on the ground floor of the ruin. The rest stay put as in close combat.

The flamer chaos marine squad draw bolt pistol and fire on the command squad and captain scoring another kill on a veteran and a wound on the captain. Defiler 2 bleches out flame with the heavy flamer but doesn't score any wounds.

The flamer marines charge the command squad they fail to score any kills and are wiped out themselves. Defiler 2 charges the two marines, the marines fail to cause any damage with krak grenades and are both destroyed by the defilers crushing claws. The plasma marines loose one in combat and manage to kill the techmarine.

On the final marine turn the squad from razorback 1 roll a 3 for the difficult terrain test and join the captain and command squad on the objective.

In assault the last remaining rocket launcher combat squad attempt to destroy the defiler with krak grenades but none manage to do any damage. The defiler manages to slaughter 2 of the marines. The combat squad from razorback 2 enaged with the plasma squad fight to a stand still.

With only one scoring unit left, which was locked in assault and out numbered the game was declared over.

WINNER = IMPERIAL FISTS!

Good test game for the new Imperial Fist army. Razorbacks are decent for fire arm protection and can give fire support once the squads have deployed. This captain is much better and killing stuff than my cursed Ultramarine captain! Command squad isn't bad either! Shame the bikers didn't last but at least the sgt did a wound on the prince. Combat squads are good for long range heavy weapons, especially good if you put them in a ruin with a techmarine

The captain surveyed the battle ground and was pleased with the results of the battle. The traitor scum of the Iron Warriors had been purged of this place. Half his battle brothers of the tactical squads were wounded or worse dead. Also one member of the command squad had been greviously wounded b y was being tended by the apothecary. The captain watched as the final parts of the scene unfolded at top of the bunker surrounded by battle brothers from a surviving combat squad. The last remaining Iron Warrior heretics were being cut down and given no quarter and the daemon engine's rampage would soon come to a stop
