Submitted by Mike Noe on Sat, 02/21/2009 - 11:31am.

On March 1st Iron Wind Metals will release three fantastic new map scale BattleTech resin pieces, designed by Kirk Alderfer.

MS-003 Interstellar Radar Array - $19.95

MS-004 Overlord Drop Ship - Inner Sphere Version $39.95

MS-005 Overlord Drop Ship - Clan Version $39.95

These great new additions to our resin kit line will be available in limited quantities until we can ramp up the resin production, so anyone that has been waiting for them should order ASAP...

I´ll buy one when they do a 1/100 version Leopard for my heavy lance (I got a Warhammer, Marauder, Scorpion and Stinger in the original 1/100 japanese models )

A 1/100 Leopard would be pretty damn big. The 1:285 was more than a foot long, the 1:100 would be bordering on 3 feet. It would be huge (and expensive).

Well I use metric so I guess someway along your calculations went of. A DS Leopard class measures as TRO 3057.

Length: 65.5m
Width: 51.6m
Height: 22.4

So taking that to 1/100 gives you a 65x51x22cm long centerpiece, quite impresive but not as much as you are saying...but an Overlord class on the other hand is 99x99x130cm tall beast that will put you in trouble with you wife/gf because quite correctly she´ll suspect you plan to store that beast at home.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Dropships are done in mapscale, not mechscale.

Mapscale uses a hexbase as 30m accross. a 10-11m tall mech is much taller than a hex is wide.

You can reduce the scale of dropships by a factor of approx four from mechscale to get mapscale.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
