Hey All,
I went out and bought DOW 2 and I cannot get it to run.
I currently have an HP AMD Athlon X2 5000 duel-core processor, 3GB memory, 320 GB HD, NVidia GeForce 6150 SE graphics card!?! I don't understand why it won't run??
I also have the latest version of DirectX?
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Chappy P!
I am thinking I should have bought Killzone 2 instead!!!

Waaaaaagh! : Post less, read more. Please. You're not entertaining anyone.
Chaplain Pallantide, I think that your video card doesn't meet the minimum system requirements. I found them here:

Sorry man. I'd also make sure you download the latest video drivers from NVidea, just to be sure.

I'm pointing out poor behavior here on Dakka. Your post was in no way helpful to the original poster and seemed to only be designed to be inflammatory. You'll find that this sort of behavior is not allowed on Dakka.
I DO know what I'm talking about, which is why I responded to the original poster. You keep wanting to keep dragging this thread further off-topic. If you continue this behavior you will no longer be welcome on Dakka.

I am wounded sir! I did not intend for it to be inflammatory at all. It is nothing but Informative. Steam collects data without a Users knowledge and consent and then sends it back to Valve.
My Apologies if an attempt to help a fellow member with possible Malware and Spyware problems appeared to you as Inflammatory.
As for helping the OP: Try Disabling your Antivirus temporarily. Many Good Antivirus programs register Steam as a Possible Virus/Trojan.

A number of users are reporting problems with incredibly slow performance in the front end (long load times after the movies and load screen, unresponsive UI.)

There is a timing bug in AMD 64 X2 dual core processor that drastically reduces performance in Dawn of War II. If you are having problems on an AMD 64 X2 or Opteron dual core, please make sure you have the dual core optimizer installed.
Perhaps this may help?
Edit: A little more info on the actual problem other than 'it won't work' might help as well. Does the game start and freeze? Does it start at all? Is it laggy?

I did download and install the optimizer, but the issue remains it's my graphics card. I have been out of the PC gaming loop so long, I have no idea what my computer could or couldn't handle as far as graphics goes.
I can't even get to a main menu let alone anything else! Anyone want a cheap copy of DOW2, just let me know...I'll part with it for 35-40 bucks plus shipping?
Thanks,
Chappy P!

Is that graphics card built into the motherboard? It's only 320Gb so it seems like it may be...
If that is the case then you would definitely need a new graphics card. On board graphics cards do almost nothing for PC games.
Personally I have a Nvidia 7600 with about a gig of DDr2 (its a few years old). Runs perfectly fine with that. I'm sure you could find a graphics card to run that game without breaking the bank.

Do I dare ask how much you paid for your graphics card? Also did you need a new power supply?
I have a slimline HP Pavilion and I am not sure if a standard card will fit or not. It looks like I have a slot to expand, but I am not sure what type of slot it is...I feel like such a noob...

I honestly could not tell you how much I paid for it since it was so long ago. Did not need a power supply for it.
Any desktop PC should have a slot to install a new graphics card unless its some ancient relic. It will either have a PCI slot
or an AGP slot
If you are brave enough, just power down and unplug your PC from any electrical sources it might be hooked up to. Don't touch anything for now and just to make sure don't wear any loose or baggy clothes to prevent any electrical discharge. From there just set it down on its side and pop it open and see if you can find this slot. Its normally on the bottom of the motherboard towards the back of the computer. That is where the card will install.
