I've been tinkering away at making a spare Deffkopta model into something more choppy. Yes, I've decided to collect an ork force not four days ago, and already feel a strange compulsion to glue bitz together. It's supposed to be a Killa Kan, although it is a little large... I think.
Anyway, in focus are these awesome metal joints I scavenged from a wind-torn umbrella (see pic). They're sort of 'U' shaped pieces of metal, quite easy to dig into with a pair of old sidecutters and them snap apart. I've already used them extensively in this project, as you'll see. Larger pieces fit over the thinner pieces to make the armour on the lower legs.
Bear in mind that I've only just started this tonight. Still plenty of work to go, only the rear engine/exhaust and top part of the kopta body will be visible outside the 'Kan' part, and I'm thinking of a way to attach either the Kopta rokkit launcher or scratchbuild a grotzooka. Still trying to come up with an idea for the feet - the current ones are probably quite temporary.
That socket attachment sitting on top is ballast - the 'Kan is not actually attached to its feet and is a little front-heavy.
