Here we go,

The players: Sousou (Samoan name) and me Solomon. I let him use all my stuff.

The place: The Back of Kalihi Valley, I am the caretaker of a 100 acre nature preserve

We each draw a random 500 point army.

I draw the Eldar.

Sousou draws the Tyranid

Game one set up: All Eldar at middle top and only Tyranid Warriors set up.Genestealers infiltrate into building within charge range of avatar. 3 objectives and 12 inch deployment

Eldar fail to steal initiative and Tyranid go first. Due to poor difficult terrain and Fleet rolls only one unit of genes reach and they pour everything into the Avatar

Avatar with the support of his Storm Guardians massacre 9 Genestealers. Avatar only took a two wounds.

Top of the 2nd

Genestealers pull back

Eldar reposition

Top of the 3rd

Genestealers continue to pull back. Tyranid Warriors all the while providing support fire

Eldar army divides in half

Top of the 4th

A unit of Genestealers wipe out Gaurdians

Wraithlord passes his Wraithsighgt check and uses his flamers to wipe out genestealers while he weeps for the loss of his kin

Game ends. Avatar and Storm Gaurdians win with one objective near the middle of table.

Game two

Sousou draws Salamanders

I draw the Tau

The set up: Dawn of War and Capture and Control

Tau steals the initiative, Firewarriors kill 3 scouts and force them out of their perch

Salamanders captain advances

Top of the 2nd

Kroot advance

Salamaders open fire and kill 5 Kroot

Top of the 3rd

In a deadly round of close combat marines wipe out chargeing Kroot and then a Shas El with a Fail Safe Detonator

Scouts move to take objective

Top of the 4th (ignore venerable dread in lower left)

Stealth Suits finally appear and wipe out scouts.

Venerable dread finally arrives to threaten tau base

Top of the 5th

Captain survives attack from Stealth Suits.

Captain wipes out Stealth Suits and protects their base while Venerable dreadnought takes the tau base
Game ends a Salamander victory

Game 3

I draw Thousand Sons

Sousou draws Slaanesh Daemons

Set up: Dawn of War and 3 objectives

I get first turn and take positions

Daemons begin to arrive

Top of the 2nd

Thousand Sons take out Fiend while Daemonettes hang back

Keeper advances and fails to entice the Thousand Sons with Pavane

Top of the 3rd

Daemon Prince takes out another Fiend but takes a wound

Another unit of Daemonettes move to take another objective

Top of the 4th

Thousand Sons Lesser Daemons finally arrive

Daemonettes move onto an objective

Top of the 5th

Daemon Prince uses Warptime and charges Keeper of Secrets ad no one takes damage

Daemonettes charge Lesser daemons and win because they have an Intsrument but stay lockedup

Battle Rages on with both scraps real close. Thosand Sons take an Objecttive and the game ends a draw.

WHEW!

That was a blast. Stay tuned for more next weekend when we return to larger battles.

Well if he had made it in with all 3 squads of Genestealers it would have looked very different

Thanks for the props folks

Thanks for taking time to snap photos and write this up.

Looks like a fun way to play. Is your friend new to 40k? I can see this being a good way to introduce new people to the game, too.

I may have to try this also!

Looked like a lot of fun.

More than that, great painted armies. I hate to see a battle report with pictures of unpainted metal and plastic.

Great fun and great armies!!

Very original and fun battle reports! This was really entertaining to read.

The armies were very well painted and pre-balanced;

The selection was random, making things fair & forcing you guys to adopt your tactics to the army and situation at hand;

and the battles were small enough to get in 3 games!

I hope you make more of these. I really enjoyed it.

By the way, what model is that for the Tzeentch DP?

Armies:
Angels of Absolution 1500pts
Vostroyans 500pts
Dark Elves 2000pts
Warriors of Chaos 1500pts

Thanks!

The Daemon Prince model was the body of the original Blood Thirster model , The original Lord of Change wings, the old-school titan head and bits.

How did you find the smaller point scenarios? There was another thread where a person stated the missions didn't all hold up at that points level. Also, did you find that the bigger critters (Avatar, DP) dominated at all?

Cheers!

ps. love the terrain on your website, any chance for a how-to for the Chaos Trees?

All I did was modify the seize ground scenario by keeping it to 3 objectives only. Larger models can be dominating so I that is why I built each army myself. That way they would all be balanced against each other. This is also a great way to teach the hobby.

My buddy Pat (the photographer) runs that site by the way, email him and ask
