Ok so recently after buying my nephew his necrons, I discovered that not only was his dad (one of my brothers) getting interested in playing again, but that his best friend has been bored and wanted to get into a hobby and thought 40k looked pretty sweet.
BUT thats about it. Theyve just been talking. Id personally like to get more people into the hobby for many reasons. Ive been telling them "well about $50 and you can play with us. Thats pretty cheap!"
I need some more firepower tho to really make them go from just talking about it to seriously saying ok lets do this!

Do you have any armies that they could borrow for a practice game or two? If they like to read, letting them read a couple of the 40K novels (the better ones, otherwise might backfire) might help get them pumped for taking up the hobby.

Dawn of War might help here, if they enjoy RTS?

Helps to build up the enthusiasm for the setting.

I agree with Mad Doc, If they play PC games its a great way to get some one into playing.

hmm I know our friend Tony LOVES PC games. Im pretty sure he will be the easier of the 2 to convert. Specially if my brother gets into it. We all joke about how they are married and the whole gay male life mates thing.
As for my other brother.... I cheated a little and said ok today Im buying you a squad of whatever army you want. So he picked the catachan fighters. Pretty sweet now I just hope he starts getting that itch. Im sure the fact that I got his son into it by getting him and teaching him to paint his necrons. Im hoping the whole father son thing falls into play there

You are a twisted schemer my friend. I personally got interested when my cousin allowed us to paint some of his old SM. I made some friends on a trip, found out they lived near me, and then learned that they played. He showed me some of the armies and I got hooked.

So get that 1 guy to play and the urge(if not peer pressure) should also help the others get into it.

Thats really a good idea tho. I got my one brother assembling his catachans and has the whole paint scheme thought out. NOW his buddy tony is doing the whole "hey those are pretty sweet looking"
