Thanks for the reports. I'm a bit envious being able to play at a GW store. They always have nice tables for which you can throw down on.

Do you utelize powerpoint for your battle reports? It works out pretty well, IMO.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Nice battle report, things looked grim for the orks at the start but they really turned it around.

Im not sure how many wounds your warrior sqaud took to shooting but it isnt many more points at all to equip them all uniquely and while you loose a few attacks (3) you do gain rending and a lashwhip..aswell as a useless spinefist.

Good bat rep

Nice rpt but

Where are the Stealers.... ?

How can you play nids and not have stealers....

Everyone loves Stealers... Or are they just nurfed these days ?

I am out of touch with it, last time I played we had squats, trikes, ratlings and robots....
Dreadnoughts had twin bolters mounted on the back of there hands, Guardsmen carried Lascannons and Heavy Bolters on their shoulders and sentinels has Assault cannons...
Ahhh so many fond memories, So many dead eldar.....

Great report. That looked like a really fun battle; not super-efficient clone lists, lots of carnage, nice.

Now the Ork player just needs to learn how to speed paint!

the issue with the nid list is that you really do need either a broodlord and retinue, or a hive tyrant for HQ, warriors just arent tough enough IMO, and with 2000 points you can easily afford it.
also, too many hormagaunts and NO GENESTEALERS, are you insane, i personally would have lost the raveners and put in some stealers.
hormagaunts work best against IG in my experience, and also keep them down to maybe 10 per squad, because while they may not be as strong as a large unit in CC, when you get shot at, your opponent may waste a whole units shooting, while only killing 10 hormagaunts.

but nice battle report, nice to see painted nids vs. the grey orks of death

- Hive Fleet Rapier - 4000 points (from 5th Edition codex!)

Hey, kudos for hormagaunts I'd bought 96 of them for a 'nid army!

Love the pics, you'll get him next time!!!

I am guessing the play test of hormagaunts revealed that next time you will field more of your usual genestealers.

I have found them to be effective at tying up units until the rest of my army can come to grips with the enemy.

They also make effective speed bumps for Ork Nobs on Bikes! Giving my 'stealers a chance to charge first.

(Yes, this is my first post....been lurking around though...Love the battle reports!! )

Looks like you placed your first group of warriors too close to your opponents edge. That and your lines seamed a bit spread out with your hormies too far ahead.

When ever I do this with either hormies or genestealers...which is real tempting to do given deployment and charge ranges, I usually end up eating crow as my gun lines don't have enough time to soften up the enemy troops and are left defenseless against CC.

As such I usually deploy my army farther back and keep my hormies and genestealers close at hand untill it looks like my opponent is about to charge my gunline.

Not good at all way too expensive and don't do enough damage to justify the point cost.

I have concluded that all gaunts of any time are ineffective in 5th edition.

I have found that Spinegaunts that have WON are very effective. They make great speedbumps for Nob Bikers, Assault Terminators...etc.

Then after they are wiped out, and come back they can camp out on objectives.

As for killing power....well...um...no.
