I wanted to try out my new Iron Warrior list, so had a in-house game.

Iron Warriors

1 x Daemon Prince - lash whip & wings

1 x Chaos Lord - terminator armour & daemon weapon

4 x Terminators w/ land raider - 3 x single lightning claws, 1 x chain fist, 1 x heavy flamer & 3 x combi meltas

3 x Terminators w/ land raider - 2 x single lightning claws, 1 x chain fist, 1 x heavy flamer & 2 x combi meltas

10 x Chaos Marines w/ rhino - 2 x meltaguns & chaos icon

10 x Chaos Marines w/ rhino - 2 x meltaguns & chaos icon

1 x Ironclad Dreadnought - heavy flamer & 2 x hunter killer rockets

10 x Marines w/ razorback - 1 x rocket launcher & 1 x flamer - sgt w/ bolt pistol & power weapon

Deployment

Game type was annilation. Each Defiler was position either side of the board with a land raider packing terminators supporting it. The Daemon Prince hid behind the land raider which had just the four terminators in, the three terminators had the chaos lord with them. Each defiler and land raider was then supported by a rhino full of chaos marines while the remaining rhino supported the havocs in the centre of the board.

The Fists had their land raiders opposite the chaos counter parts. The captain and command squad facing the chaos lord and three termies with support from two razorbacks, the other land raider with thunder hammer armed termies and librarian supported by a razorback and the ironclad. The bikers were position by the tact heavy weapon squads, which had split into combat squads and all three took cover in a lagre ruin.

Round 1

Iron Warriors rolled to go first, all units moved forward with the havocs taking position behind some barricades. The defiler flanking the daemon prince and 4 terminator land raider could only spot the bikers as all imperial fist units had been hidden well behind cover - the defiler fired and scored a direct hit on the bikers and blown the lot to pieces! The other defiler also fired, but at the captain's land raider but it scattered and missed.

The Imperial Fists moved forward, the Ironclad taking cover behind the librarian's land raider and the razorback flanking it managed to take cover behind the side of the ruin ready to amush a incoming chaos rhino! The captain's land raider only moved 6" and fired one lascannon at the defiler scoring a weapon destroyed result and loosing the battlecannon and the other lascannon at the rhino flanking it scoring a crew stunned result. The combat squads with the heavy weapons fired, the two krak rockets at the defiler but both did nothing and the heavy bolter at the havocs which scored one wound.

Round 2

The havocs moved forward onto a terrain piece which had a higher view point, now nothing was blocking their line of sight. The chaos marines disembarked from the stunned chaos rhino and fired meltaguns at the captain's land raider but scored no damage. The daemon prince moved behind the razorback which was flanking the librarian's land raider, its weak rear exposed. The Prince attacked with powers from the warp and destroyed it earning chaos' second kill point.

The now transport-less combat squad fired the flamer on the daemon prince but scored no damage, the librarian & terminators armed with thunder hammers disembarked ready to tackled the daemon prince, their land raider fired the heavy bolters at the prince but scored no wounds, it fired its two lascannons at the incoming chaos rhino flanking the defiler and scored a crew shaken result. The two rocket launchers fired from the ruin with krak rockets at the defiler flanking the prince and managed to score weapon destroyed result and it lost the battle cannon. The heavy bolter from the ruin fired at the clearly visible havocs but failed to score any wounds. The two combat squads from the two razorbacks supporting the captain disembarked and open fired with flame and bolt pistols on the chaos marines scoring 4 wounds between them. The two razorbacks fired at the havocs themselves but scored no kills. The captain and command squad also disembarked, after scoring only two hits with bolt pistols and no wounds they were hoping to do better in combat.

In assault the librarian and thunder hammer terminators charged the daemon prince, the terminators suffered three wounds, the librarian failed to score any wounds on the prince while the thunder hammers smashed into the prince scoring one would and would make it strike last in the next combat phase The Ironclad dreadnought charged the chaos rhino which had been crew shaken by the librarian's rhino smashed its hammer into its side but failed to score a result. In combat the captain and command squad slayed all but two from the iron warriors which had just been bathed in flame, even with heavy losses the re-roll due to the chaos icon couldn't help them and they fell 4" towards a rhino which offered cover to the rhino which was supporting the havocs previous position.

Round 3

The chaos lord and three terminators disembarked from their land raider, the other chaos rhino let out its traitor legion members to provide support to the two remaining from the squad which had been butchered by the captain and command squad. The lord's land raider fired on the captain's land raider but scored no result. The defiler flanking the lord's land raider used run instead of shooting and could assault after due to the fleet rule. The two chaos marine squads then fired on the razorbacks, only one was destroyed but the other was going to be assault with handful of crak grenades in the assault phase! The other chaos land raider disgorged its terminators and they fired the combi meltas at the librarian's land raider but scored no damage. The Iron Warriors disembarked from the rhino which was in combat with the ironclad, the rhino just happily drove off towards the rhino holding the heavy weapon combat squads. The two meltaguns from that unit fired at the ironclad and scored immobilised result and also weapon destroyed, loosing the storm bolter. The defiler flanking the 4 terminators land raider moved forward and got a extra 1" for the run move.

In assault the defiler by the four terminators land raider charged the combat squad from the razorback which the prince had destroyed, the defiler slaughtered the lot of them giving a 3-0 lead in kill points and moved towards the ruin with the heavy weapon combat squads. With the prince striking last due to suffering a wound from a thunder hammer the librarian went first and scored a wound, the librarian summoned the powers of his mind and great power flowed through his force weapon as the daemon prince was blown into dust and giving the imperial fists 1 kill point. The chaos lord and terminators assaulted the captain and command squad butchering them with his daemon weapon and the terminators lighting claws leaving just the captain standing and with one wound left, the captain failed the morale test by choice, but had to take the no retreat! rule and lost its final wound as the chaos lord tore the mighty imperial fists captain in half with the daemonic possessed axe! The defiler flanking the lord charged one of the flamer combat squads and destroyed all but one in combat, the single marine managed to fall back and passed the no retreat! saves. Iron Warriors now lead with 6-1 kill points The chaos marines which had fired the meltas at the razorback and scored no result charged the tank and planted krak grenades, a weapon destroyed and immobliised result was scored which was good enough as the tank was now useless as a transport and firing platform. They consolidated towards the ruin with the heavy weapon combat squads.

With imperial fist forces heavily out numbered due to heavy losses little shooting was done. The heavy bolter combat squad could get los on the incoming chaos marine squad which had just planted krak grenades on the razorback, they fired onto them but only scored one wound. The other two heavy squads fired at the mass of chaos marines which had fired at the ironclad, one was a frag rocket which killed one traitor marine and a krak which killed another. The librarian's land raider pivoted on the spot and fired its two lascannons at the defilers weak rear scoring a weapon destroyed result and then a vehicle destroyed result giving the imperial fists two kill points. The heavy bolters from the land raider fired at the havoc squad and scored one kill. The captain's land raider fired at the chaos lord and terminators and managed to only kill one terminator, it split fire and fired the heavy bolters at the two remaining chaos marines but failed to kill them. The surviving razorback fired at the same two remaining chaos marines and failed to kill them also. One of the combat squads with the flamer which had been supporting the captain and command squad fired at the oncoming chaos terminators and chaos lord but failed to score any wounds. The other squad prepared to the charge the defiler.

In assault the librarian and two remaining terminators charged the chaos terminators killing only one, in return the entire unit and was killed and librarian down to one wound making the kill points 7-1! The combat squad engaged with the defiler scored no damage and were all slaughtered about from the sgt which stayed in combat.

Round 4

The chaos marine entered the rear of the ruin and fired on the ground floor combat squad killing all but the rocket launcher armed marine. The other remaining squad fired the metlaguns at the ironclad again, destroying the meltagun and the dccw. The two remaining chaos marines fired on the only remaining functional razorback but scored no damage. The chaos lord and terminators fired combi meltas, bolt shells and heavy flamer at the combat squad which had jsut fired upon them leaving one survivor! The lascannons from the lord's chaos land raider bounced off the captain's land raider just like the other chaos raider too.

In assault the librarian was destroyed making it 8 kill points, the solo marine was ripped apart by the chaos lord making it 9. The sgt and defiler battled to a stand still while the chaos marines which had entered the combat squad heavy weapon ruin charged and slaughtered the last marine from one squad making it 10 kill points to 3!

All imperial fist heavy weapon combat squads in the ruin fired down on the chaos marines, the krak rocket shot was survived due to cover save and only two chaos marines were killed. The librarian's land raider fired its two lascannons at the chaos terminators which were in combat with the librarian killing one, its heavy bolters fired at the chaos marines melting parts from the ironclad but scored no wounds. The defiler finally ripped apart the sgt and consolidated towards the heavy weapons ruin.

The game was called over IRON WARRIORS WIN! with 10-3 kill points.

My after thoughts are that the new iron warriors list is kick ass, is well balanced and packs a very good punch. The two marines surviving from the first masscare were just invincible and nothing coudl kill them.

Good game. Time to tune up the Fists list.
