So last night we finished up our Call to Arms league (I managed the Relentless Medal w/ 23 Models killed in a single turn, w00t!).

For the majority of the league I've tried to play with different models than my usual kit, this means using different casters (eButcher, Old Witch) and the new models I got, mainly 4 Iron Fang Uhlans & Markov.

Having used them multiple games in a row, among three different casters (I had one eIrusk game in there), I can say that these guys are officially disgusting now that they're fearless and can do what they want. As in, oh my god they just killed two beasts/jacks in one turn.

DEF13, ARM19, and 8 Damage Boxes really helps things out too in terms of taking a charge & living, or just limiting what a Beast/Jack can do in retaliation.

Oh, and combo'ing them with Epic Irusk is so good it hurts. Giving them an extra damage die is ridiculous. That's where I killed two heavy jacks in one turn, granted they were Cryx heavies, but still. Other times they managed to finish off a Circle heavy and a light.

Seriously, I'm now wondering how they'll be in MK2, but for right now, they're amazing.

I'll expect heavy cav to still be pretty boss in Mk2. While your Uhlans are doing amazing stuff, that's still 158 points of models and eIrusk buffed - it should be putting on the hurt!

I'm often running 5x Stormlances, laddermore, & rhupert. While they pull off some ridiculous carnage every game, they're also weighing in around 250 points.

I won't be too upset if they tone down Cav a little (and I own 5 Stormlances, but don't have Laddermore assembled - that's how little I've been playing). Right now, while expensive, they're too good a choice, a near no-brainer.

Yep Terror (even vs. Cmd 9) was pretty much their only weakness. Now they have none.

To be fair, I'm just talking about the Uhlans. I don't use Markov for much other than a distraction, though some of the games I've played haven't had too many units of weaker infantry, where he and his blasty lance have a field day.

In terms of points I have 110 for 4 Uhlans, then 43 for Markov, who is like a super-solo in that regard. Sure he's expensive for a throw-away, but when in combo with say, a Drakhun or just on his own against a cluster of troops, he's pretty damn awesome and just lets the Uhlans be able to do what they want.

Also, the above matchups sort of explains why I've had such success with the Uhlans - against Beasts/Jacks they are just crazy. Heck even against medium/heavy infantry, they're fantastic.

Its ok khador doesn't have light jacks. We have the most cav.

With Markov/Drakun/Fenris/Uhlans?

Khador light jacks are the best!!!

I think I'd take Vlad and just have a really fast list

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)
Adepticon 2011- Combat Patrol Best General

That would put you over, though.

This list also is running without a dismount option and no room for Stannis, so you'd have to drop an
Uhlan to add the dismount option or drop a heavy cav and just be 18 points under with Vlad.

I do not really see that Cav need to be toned down although the new formation rules may change them a bit. Less so for Uhlans actually. What will change cavalry is warjacks.

I find what makes Cavalry so attractive, especially for Khador is their relative cost to warjacks vs their utility. A unit of Uhlans at 137 points can deliver up to 5 P+S16+3D6 attacks bases, increased signficantly by spells like Fury, Battle Lust, Signs and Portents as well as eVlad and pButcher feats. They also make their attacks at a base MAT of 8. Add to that 17/19 ARM, multiple wounds, relentless charge and DEF13 and you have a very resilient, very flexible unit.

You just cannot match that with any warjack in the Khador arsenal, not at 13" threat, and not for those points. Even a Juggernaught, the baseline Khador warjack is SPD4, MAT5 and 76% of the points of a full unit of Uhlans. Even Beast-09 has a problem delivering the efficiency of the Uhlans especially once you can boost the hit chance of impact attacks. (as an aside that Troll Dragoon will make their cav ridiculous).

The only downside to the Uhlans was they were not fearless, Markov fixes that.

However if warjacks are cheaper, say 75% of the current cost, in addition to warcasters having baked in warjack points the table starts to tip, even before the MAT and POW upgrades to warjacks. For example a spell like Blitz, or feat like Forced march are only ok, unless you are running 3 or 4 warjacks. Then they become much more efficient. Further relentless charge is less of an advantage when all models can charge across rough terrain with a movement penalty.

Not that Cavalry will lose their place with Khador, they are of course the light jacks for the faction.

I am just waiting for my all large base list, with 5 berzerkers, all the cavalry models and a points free Karchev in MKII.
