Hey all great site and community you have here.

Just started to get into 40k and jumped in with both feet first. My wife helped by telling the GW guy to give us a bunch of stuff and out I walked with boxes and boxes of orks. The problem is, I havn't the slightest idea where to go from here.

I know how to build, base, and paint, not good at it but I can get by. I have a basic understanding of the rules, again not a guru but could probably manage a game without having to stick my nose in the book the entire time.

Specifically I have no idea how to build my list, what upgrades to select, which pieces to model etc.

Here's my list of goodies, maybe someone here can offer some advice.

Assault on black Reach. (Already built the models not much choice here)

Ork Battlewagon
Ork Battleforce
2 Packs Warbikers
2 Packs Lootas
4 Packs Stormboyz
Big Mek KFF

So I have:
2 Boyz Big Shoota (AoBR)
38 Boyz
5 Nobz (AoBR)
1 Warboss (AoBR)
3 Deffkoptaz (AoBR)
9 Warbikes
1 Trukk
20 Storm Boyz
10 Lootas/Burnaz
1 Big Mek with KFF

What kind of list can I build with these? Am I lacking in any areas? How about upgrades?

And last but not least, I see that Orks are split into 6 Clans with set colors etc, is it "legal" to deviate? I'd like to make thier primary color Orange when I get ready to start painting.

....whew oh and HI from the new guy and thanks in advance for any help!

Wumps

Welcome to dakka.

You have a pretty well rounded selection of units.
Probably the best thing to do is put them in units and get in some games so that you work out what is best for you, however Lootas are gold, as are full sized units of footslogging orks.

Of course you can deviate with you colours. You can give them pink skin and yellow and green armour if you want...

welcome to dakka! id suggest another trukk or 2 to help fet your boyz into the rumble a bit soona, and perhaps a dreadnought/killa kan or 3 to help support the boys from afar too. A gretchin living sheild can also sometimes be usefull when facing shooty armies? hope this helps! post some photys of your work in progress in the gallery, would be glasd to see them?

Hi! Welcome to Dakka!

92% of teens have moved on to rap. If you are one of the 8% who still listen to real music, copy and paste this into your sig.

Welcome aboard. That was the way I went with my space marines. I bought everything that look neat, traded the orcs in the box for more marines and then someone gave me marines for an ork truck. Now I have over 4000 points of space marines, fully painted but not happy with basing yet.

Get in a few games. See if the local store has a 40K escalation league. Start out at a lower point level and work your way up. That way you can discover your playing style and which units work for you.
