I'm trying to start up a gamer network in southern connecticut, so I am posting on major forums to try and find nearby players. I have created a facebook group and a livejournal community as well

Our group playing out of White Plains, NY caters to many CT players. All and more are welcome. We also have a CT group that plays all sorts of wargames historical and sci-fi out of Stratford CT, every second Sat. in the month. The CT Game club has been around for over 20 years.

I could suggest Sarge's Comics in New London CT if you're looking for some good gaming. There are people there that play 40k, Fantasy and Flames of War if you're into those. That being said the community is more relaxed and not hugely committed, though you'll find some solid and dependable players if you want to organize in advance.
Another store in CT is the Time Machine, which I believe is in Manchester, though I'm not 100% on that. I've only heard about it and never actually played there myself but I heard it was more of a LGS instead of a FLGS, but if you can deal with people like that I'd imagine it has a little more of a committed gamer base and they do more than just GW.

Yeah I live pretty close to Sarges and have been to the time machine. Mostly my goal is just to create a place online that is focused locally. Like you said, Sarges is a good place to play, but save when they organize games its kind of a crap shoot as to if you will always have players. Thanks for the input though it is much appreciated ^^

If it's any help you can talk to a big guy named Joe at Sarge's who is a buddy of mine and said that he'd be all kinds of interested in helping you set up a Southern CT club.

FYI:
I organize a gaming group based out of Mansfield, CT called the CT.U.W.C. if your interested in checking us out or making some contacts. We are not a strictly 40K/ GW club and play a variety of games, but we do have 40k players (self included).
We mainly meet at my place in Mansfield as my basement has been converted to a decent game room with multiple tables and a butt load of decent terrain, but sometimes we meet at other members houses or public venues depending on member availability in any given week.
Below is the linky to our club yahoogroup:

Also if your not already familiar with it here is a linky to the connecticut 40k forum which might be a good source of player contacts:

@Iamthewalrus sure that would be cool. I'll be back on the shoreline in a few weeks so I will probably pop in. My girlfriend lives in Groton so I'm over there a lot.

There's a group that meets every monday and everyother friday, at the Hobbytown USA in Brookfield.

Another option is the once a month MAD (Member Appreciation Days) that Connecticon holds.
