Uneventful game, really. New rules requiring you to completely box a jack to take it out makes them quite nice.
My list:
Servath Reznik
Revenger
Blessing of Vengeance
Devout
Redeemer
Castigator
Wracks
2-point Choir
2-point Choir
Vassal
Heirophant
His:
Kraye
Strangeways
Thorn
3 Chargers
2 Defenders
Due to the new way choir works, I kept screwing up and leaving the poor revenger to get peppered every other turn. Aside from that, he just shot choir members every time I successfully managed to safe passage all the jacks, and I can't pass command checks to save my life [that's why I use jacks and exemplar!], so they started running once they were thinned out.
Honestly the game was a bit annoying. Everything was light cav, so he would cast Evasive on Thorn, charge forward, stab/bash something for some cortex damage and disrupt an arc node, then scamper away. Repeat. Without my arc nodes the game was an uphill battle until I could manage to have both arc nodes close and threatening. Once I finally managed to bring down one of the Defenders and knock down the other one with a throw, and position myself so I'd be able to get into melee and start doing damage, he called the game saying he couldn't win even though I was down to a single choir member, he still had all but one jack, and Kraye hadn't used his feat yet.
Observations though, are that jacks vs jacks really never need to boost hit rolls now. That fact actually was what made his chargers incredibly effective at gunning down my choir members and taking advantage of holes in Safe Passage without ever spending focus on them.
Also, the new defensive strike rules are terrible. No longer can you run forward and engage someone, trapping them into either taking a free strike when they move away, or the defensive strike when they stand still or move closer. Now it's only if someone advances into your melee range and stays there, and the attack roll gets no bonus and the damage roll isn't boosted. Also, Blessing of Vengeance losing the 2" repel for the generic 1" makes it seem FAR less special, but I suppose to get that as well as everything else would at least require it to be 2 points more than the revenger, rather than just 1.
