Game 1 - Kreoss vs. Goreshade
I took my old Kreoss Pop and Drop list (now with added Avatar support!) vs. a classic Goreshade + Zombie Horde Bane Delivery system army.
Game went pretty much the same as it would under V1. I advanced under Lamentation to keep Goreshade from getting to close with Mageblight. Deliverers and Redeemer thinned the horde of corpses while the Zealots threatened a flank.
I send the Avatar into the middle, popped Gaze to keep all eyes on him, and my opponent took the bait and sent his Banes to chop it to pieces.
From there, advanced...popped my feat and then fed the old Elf a ton of bottlerockets
FTW.
Game 2 - High Reclaimer vs. Asphyxious
This was my old Infantry-Machine army that used to win me tournaments around the time of Escalation. Game went (again) as I thought it would. MAJOR difference was that only about half my casualties generated soul tokens due to the high number of deaths from Corrosion and non-collateral, non enemy damage.
I've also realized that the new
HR Feat is basically a slightly different version of Goreshade's.
The whole game came down to a hail-mary shot with my revived Exemplars all charging an unbuffed Asphyious with 17 armour. After 5 charging weaponmaster attacks needing only 8 to hit... I failed to hit at all and the game ended. :(
Overall both games played tight and fast... I got to use more of my models than before and despite feeling like I was sometimes going about it in different ways, I was using the same overall strategies.
I really like V2! I'm going to dust off some of my unpainted stuff and try again in 2 weeks.
It was funny; because even while we were playing at the
LGS... everyone that came in to talk about the game seemed to fall into two camps.
Camp 1: This game changes how I play my ideal tournament army! Nerf bat Nerf bat! Yadda Yadda!
Camp 2: Man, I haven't played that game in awhile... it was getting too hard to keep track of everything after the first four years. I should dust my models off and try it out.
Being that me and my opponent both came from Camp 2 and were pretty open to listening to everyone's opinion... I'd bet
PP is getting really excited people are coming back to the game.
