I hope this can go here, but along w/ starting my Ork army I wanted to slowly build up a WHFB army that is completely opposite in playing style to my 40K Orks. As I see it now Orks are HtH based w/ a bit of shooting thrown in, so that's why had thoughts to do Wood Elves. Can anyone give me any advice as to the playing style of each WHFB army? Or maybe point me in the right direction? I'd highly appreciate any help I could get in advance.

Orks can be very, very, very shooty. Can't get much better shooting then 45 lootas.

Wood Elves would be an excellent choice. Very shooty. Decent in HtH but they can not stand up to attrition.

High Elves would also be a good force. A little more geared towards HtH but gobs of shooting and magic.

Or Dwarfs perhaps. While you can work up a surprisingly good offense with them, they excel at sitting back and blasting the oncoming foes to Hell and then mopping up what's left.

Finally, Empire is similar but a little more well-rounded with some good cavalry, decent magic, and still tons of firepower. MMMMM! Steam Tank!

Those would be my pics for you. Most of the other armies really tend to lean towards a mix of magic and close combat with the exception possibly of Skaven. But Skaven are a horde army, much like Orks, so I'd avoid them if you want to do something really different.

Hope that helps

life.

the way i see it, orks have one main tactic, charge.

if your looking for shooting, but for some tactical flair, go tomb kings. i play them. they can be incredibly shooty (bowskellies and catapults) and despite what people say, a garunteed hit on a 5, never going to change, is dang gone good.

plus, we are undead, and thus can

raise soldiers back

cause fear

mess with people.

if you want more info ask and i'll throw up some links

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.
