Assault on Machavius
Machavius has been the home of the imperial guard for more than thousand years it was named after the great acts of Lord Commander Solar Macharius. He was a famous commander of the Imperial Guard. His conquest was only halted by the refusal of his men to continue. This refusal arose only when their path of conquest had reached all the way to the outer border of the psychic protection afforded by Emperor's Astronomicon. The main city has a great economy and provides the weapons for the imperial fleet.
The psykers of Ultwé had foreseen this war. This foresight allowed them to find the weak point in the imperial defences. A small strike force was made ready. The strikeforce erupted from the webway in a string of lightning and engaged the imperial defences. The first battle for Machavius was about to begin.

Hello guys, this is the first battle of our campaign between my eldar and my friends imperial guard. This skirmish will be a small battle where the eldar has to break the imperial line. There will be 3 objectives in the imperial line. One command bunker good for 100 VP and 2 smaller objectives good for 75 VP.
But first of all the armies.

The Battle


The guard sets up first.

The building at the back is the command post (100VP), the right building was good for 75 VP, on the other side is the other post for 75 VP. (not on the pic)

I won the roll of a elected to go first.
Turn 1

Eldar


I started my turn with my wave serpents and council turboboosting towards his left flank. So my army would engage his platoon of 50 guardsmen consisting of flamers and autocannons.
My prism opened fire and killed 10 guardsmen. Woot!

Imperial guard

Seeing the threat of the prism. The guard commissars rapidly ordered to take the prism done. With 3 pens. The prism was wrecked.
All other shooting was saved by cover saves.

Turn 2

Eldar

I moved everything up towards his left flank and disembarked my avengers. With the help of bladestorm and guide, I scored 34 wounds.

Imperial guard
My opponent knew that would embark next turn into my serpents because I couldn’t shoot. He ordered his men. His commissars were all shouting over the place. This meant that I had to reroll my cover saves. His gun line opened fire but only one wave serpent lost his brightlance. Phew.

Turn 3

Eldar

My avengers under command of my second farseer embarked back into a serpent. The other group tried to reach cover. My council fortuned up and doomed the platoon. After the doomed destructors only a few guardsmen remained. But only the commissar and a brave soldier survived the assault afterwards.

Imperial guard
In his turn he tried to stop my advance by shooting at my wave serpent with the avenger inside but nothing came through. His command squad on the left moved a bit to engage the council.

Turn 4

Eldar
Here I made a big mistake I totally forgot to use my powers. And have to pull everything back out of range of his guns. I think this fault cost me the match.

Imperial guard

Seeing I had to pull back he wasted no time and moved towards the command post to cover it within his fire range of his lasguns. Some mortars from his command post killed some avengers who had claimed the right objective.

Turn 5

eldar

So, I started my phase with my serpents kicking their star engines. The unpainted one moved to contested the left objective in the sixth turn. The other contesting the command post. My avengers who claimed the left objective killed almost his command squad mainly thanks to guide.

Imperial guard

He moved a bit up. His commissar of his second command squad shouted “bring it down” making all his weapon of this squad twin linked against tanks. This was very smart because he couldn’t penetrate my serpent but he then gets the reroll against my council who stood after the serpent... But none of the eldar fell because of fortune.

Then he charges his lone guardsmen into my council but he was killed before he could strike.
The game ended by turn 5.

Making it a draw.

The war had began. The first battle had taken place at the ruined settlements on the outskirts of Machavius. Without the support of their tanks, the unsupported left flank of the imperial line felt rapidly to the eldar. But the war wouldn’t be so easily win. The imperial had ordered reinforcements and a mech column was on their way to help.

Farseer mirehn sensed that hell would break loose and she knew she coudn’t win against the strikeforce and the defenders. So, she pulled her forces back, to intercept strikeforce Hursen.

How did you make the terrain? It looks like you have a couple of gw city pieces but what about the other ones>
