Hi all,

I have been out of GW gaming and modeling for the last 6 years or so, though over that time I have painted a lot of fantasy figures for my groups D&D game. Recently a friend mentioned that he was going to start a Dark Heresy game and asked if I could do some models for him. I dove back into my giant collection of GW models to see what I could come up with and along the way found all the awesome =I=munda threads here. Which then inspired me to do more conversions. I'm hooked again.

Some of these I am making specifically for my friend, some I am just making as I get ideas. No paint on any of the yet, but the conversions can be seen in my minis gallery. More views of the minis there as well
http://www.zombieinthetrunk.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=1203

PC 1: Assassin. The player wanted a sniper type assassin and wanted him to have cornrows. Parts are from:
Cadian legs
Mordheim/Empire Militia torso with coat
Catachan head
Cadian arms
SM Scout bipod
Backpack from my bits box
Base is textured plasticard

PC2: Female Guardsman. Since GW does not make many female models for 40, let alone many that can be used for IG, I dug into my stuff and found this SWAT team member from Wargames Foundry. I swapped out the MP5 in her hand for a laspistol, added a lascarbine to her back and some IG pouches to her belt.

Assorted NPCs
Inquisitor. Made from a Mordheim figure with a cloak added. The bolt pistol conversion idea completely stolen from one of the other blogs here, using a Kroot rifle end. The sword is from the old Blood Angels command.

Shootist. Caidian torso with Mordheim legs and Middenhiem(Mordheim) arms. The head was in my bits box and the pistols are shaved down lasguns

Rogue Tech Priest. Will be one of the main bad guys.
Made from a Adeptus Mech from the Skullz rewards GW mail order had years ago. Axe head replaced with a skull from an old Chaos Warrior shouder, back pack from a SM techmarine.

Missionaries. One has a pulse carbine from a Tau model and a bionic arm from a Necromunda pit slave. The other just has his Icon pole removed, though I am considering swapping out the plasma gun for another weapon.

Great minis!

The assassin, the guardswoman, the techpriest and the missionaries are best.

That is super weird. I host them on my personal site and the gallery seems to be intact, but the images are not showing for me either. I'll look at fixing it, but until then you can go to the top level and browse them all

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm brewing up some more ideas for cool conversions.

After a few weeks where I had no time to paint I finally got to do some work and finished 4 of my Dark Heresy figs. Yay. More pics in my gallery.
The bases are something I just banged up real quick and I think they will change soon. I have some Dragonforge bases on the way.

PCs: Guardswoman, Assassin, Arbite

NPC: Tech Priest

For your inquisitor you might think of replacing the metal head with a nice hooded head - or even a regular head and then GS'ing him a nice big Witch Hunter Hat...

Otherwise very nice work.

I think that "inquisitor" is better cast as a rogue trader. I'll have to make an Inquisitor, which means more converting so that is ok with me!

I love the miniatures gwmadman especially the assassin very cool! Good idea with the components break down!

I kinda disagree Inquisitors are as varied and individual as they come, true the image of your stereotypical Ordo Herecticus Inquisitor is the Wide brimmed hat+inferno pistol look its not the case with all of those in the Ordo But its your mini Have you any idea what ordo/background your inquisitor is yet thats if he stays as an Inquisitor

Finished off 4 more minis this morning. I had forgotten to check the mail yesterday and what should be in the box but my order of bases from Champ industries http://champindustries.net/bases.html! I painted up 1 of each of the 4 types of bases and rebased my painted figs on them. I like the bases a lot and have some great ideas of layering my own bits on top of them to make them even better.

Group shot showing the 4 bases

Gunslinger - dual hellfire las pistols

Missionary 1 - armed with Xenos weapon

Missionary 2 - armed with Plasma gun

Thug - an old Warzone fig I found in my stuff that works well for DH/=I=munda

Yep I think he will have to work for a radical Inquisitor. The gun was just too cool not to use!

I think the vastly different coloring for the Tau gun compared to the rest of the model looks really good. It makes the gun seem more alien than it already is.

When I started this I was just kitbashing up whatever I could find in my stuff, with no real theme, except what my buddy running the DH game needed. I have been jonesing to do some more modeling but I promised myself that I would not do any more til I had painted the ones already on my workbench. Then maybe I'll do some themed =I= warbands and DH enemies. I got my bases and cables order from Dragon Forge http://www.dragonforge.com/ today, as well as my Pig Iron http://www.pig-iron-productions.com/ heads I ordered from the Warstore http://www.thewarstore.net/, so the urge to dig into my new IG plastic command sets is great.

8 more models painted. 2 left.

Necromunda Orlock gangers.
Back when Necromunda came out and I played it every week, I had an Orlock gang. Mostly made up of the plastic ones from the boxed set, with a couple of metal ones thrown in. In digging through my bits I found these 2 unpainted plastics and decided to paint them and see how my painting had evolved over the last 14+ years. Now I just need to dig out the old ones to compare.
The only mod is I swapped the knife on one for an axe blade that I think came from the original plastic space marines.

Kroot Merc
I had the top half of the Kroot gunner from a Krootox just lying around. I had robbed the muzzle of his gun for another conversion so I put the front half of a plasma pistol on there and green stuffed some more wrappings. For legs I used a set from my Mordheim box bulked up at the cuff with GS to balance out the model, it looked weird with weedy legs. Joined at the waist with more GS and lots of bits added to hide that.

Deathwatch Squad
My buddy said he might need a DW squad for his DH game, so I put one together and got it painted. I did all the shoulders UM Blue, but I may change that when I find all my transfers. Only thing I converted was putting a plasma pistol on the Sergeant, though I did pose one as if he is inserting a new magazine in his bolter and another looking at an auspex.
I did take the Champ bases http://champindustries.net/bases.html and add something on top to see how it would look. I found the front coping from a Gorka Morka truck in my bits that worked perfectly.
Looking at the pics just now I see I did not finish some paint on the bases, so I'll do that right after I post this.

It's not =I= or DH, but I also finished the 6 PC figs for the new D&D 4e campaign my monday night group just started, and they came out great too. I used the Heresy metal flagstone bases on them

The dwarf is from Red Box games http://red-box-games.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=5 and is a bad ass fig.
The Kroot pants were an experiment, and sometimes those go awry. I'm not sure how I feel about them just yet.

I dig the kroot pants. Gives him a rasta look (with his Kroot dreads).

Maybe he is doing it to "fit in" with the rest of the group. I can just imagine some talk between him and a human about why everyone wears pants/clothes.. and since then he wears loose fitting pants to seem less out of place.

Done! All the figs on my work bench are now painted! New conversions start tomorrow.
I think I will do a =I= stormtroop squad.

Rogue Trader/Inquisitor

Genestealer Hybrids
I had to use Catachan arms on them as the old IG arms I must have had originally have long since disappeared

Military Officer
A Reaper CAV fig that was on my bench and would work well for DH.

Ork
I think this fig is from one of the Warhammer Fantasy boxed sets (4th ed maybe?). It was on my bench and even though it is a fanstay fig makes a good feral orc, found in an underhive maybe.
