So.. hi!

All "i'm not a man of great introductions" aside, I'm 26 yrs old (already?) feeling kind of old, though browsing this forum helps since alot of you are way older than I am. Anyhow, I got into 40k in a bit of an awkward kind of way I guess...

I've always been into comic books/sci-fi/video gaming (since long before it got it's 'coolfactor' it has gotten nowadays) and back in the day just enjoying those few things was kind of lonely in my ring of friends. And going into comic book and gamerstores around the world will sooner or later lead you right by a shelf of 40k-things and I've always glanced at them with a kind of jealous feeling knowing there was no-one around to actually play it with I never really got around to finding out exactly what it's all about and there wasn't really time to go to the closed-circuit realm of local-games-workshop-store-play-night and actually meeting the people playing this game.

The years passed by and about a year ago I got this girlfriend with who I share alot of spare-time activities (oh yes) and it turns out she's an even bigger geek than I am (joy). So she dragged me along to a "gaming thursday" she has with a couple of her friends where they play boardgames of all sorts. And it turns out, one of them was sitting there painting a Witch Hunter and I go "Hi!". Immediately I'm embraced by these people answering all my questions about 40k I've been building up during all these years and before I know it I'm sitting on nails waiting for my Space Marine Battleforce to arrive by mail with a solid gang to play with. And it turns out, another friend of mine has this hidden crave for picking up 40k (again) that is sparked by my talking about it so all of a sudden I'm 12 years old again, surrounded by these 40k'rs and a girldfriend who is pushing me to go on and play, paint and enjoy (and they said life wasn't easy).

So like I said, righ now building and painting to get a Space Marine army ready (buying new units faster than I can paint them) and I just went through a three week period pulling my hair trying to decide what colors my chapter is going to strut and trying to wrap my head around all the rules, codexes, FOC, so on. And it turns out I am a man of great introductions, sorry for the TL hope you didn't DR.

Damn, sounds like you got it pretty good. I'd kill to be able to find a girl who shared my interests in 40k, let alone that'd be willing to date me XD Anyway, though, welcome to the forum, have fun.

Glad to hear you found a solid gaming group to play with,I am about the only one in my area that wargames.So I know how it must have felt all those years not to be able to game with anyone!!!

High Commisar Biffsmack: Thanks, well.. finding one who shares your interest might be hard, but finding one who at least understands your fascination about it can't be that hard (or can it?). There's at least one other girl in my gaming group (she's taken by another player already though).

Deff Dread red Edition: Damn, must be hard when there's no-one around when your in it. I don't really know how gaming in Sweden is generally but in my group it's alot of Chaos.
