I'm wondering if it's better to play something new or something old with Mark II. I know
much of it will feel new, what with the unit re-evaluation and what not, but having played
an entirely new faction and caster in Mark 2 I have to say that it was really fun.

I used JEremiah Kraye and it was a hoot. I gave myself a headache trying to avoid certain
blunders I wasn't used to (playing with smoke templates, mainly), but even though I'm
not a fan of warjack design, I enjoyed the game with a warjack-centric warcaster.

Then I cruised the forums and found out that new Kraye is disappointing to a Mark I player.

Do you find that trying something new in Mark II has been best? Or comparing the new
with the old?

I still have yet to try any of the Mark II rules. What did you play as prior to JKraye?

I don't like playing with a rule set until it's finalized(that's why I stopped playing 40k ) Next year I'll be playing WM II and if I don't like it I'll just go back 'cause I don't really care for the way tournaments play so I figure I can play whatever I want for 'fun.'

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)

In Mark I?

My favorites were Hierarch Severius, Grand Exemplar Kreoss and Feora Protector of
the flame epic warcasters.

So you and your friends will homebrew Mark I rules for new releases after Mark II starts,
or follow whoever is homebrewing them on the net?

Possibly. There are a bunch of hordes only players so that adds to it.

But their Mk II starts next year. What happens if they prefer that?

So unless I'm reading this incorrectly, you're saying because people on the forums don't like the new Mk2 Kraye you're worried now about him, even though you had a lot of fun playing him in Mk2?

If that's the case, I say to heck with the forum naysayers. If you had fun with him, that's what really matters. For example, people on the official forums always talk down the Dire Troll Blitzer, but I love playing him as he's fun. Play what you like and don't let the forums guys bring you down.

Also, I've found that a lot of the comparisons, in general, of new to old don't really matter that much. Instead of focusing on what was gained/lost in the transition, it's probably better just to focus on what they are now in comparison to other things now. This is probably why you were able to have more fun with him as opposed to being disappointed...you have a fresh set of eyes.

I don't like to speculate. I just wait until the change then see what I wanna do

My first reaction was the same as yours. Screw them, but then I remembered how I
felt when I realized that Epic Severius was turned into a ranged warjack assassination
warcaster. I was really, really sad.

Pathetic, but true.

But that doesn't really apply in this case. You aren't burdened by what Kraye was in Mk I as you only know him in his Mk II incarnation. So there's nothing to be sad about in this respect.

If you're afraid his Mk II stats/abilities might change between now and January, I could see that as a valid concern. But I couldn't see them making huge changes to him between now and then. From what I understand they're just making minor tweaks. Still if it is a big worry for you, maybe it'd be best to just wait it out and see how it goes...there's always Hordes until then (Or retribution is due out in a couple months (?) if the pointy ears float your boat).

The whole stupid system floats my boat. That's another problem.

Anyway, thanks for the validation. Kraye is a ton of fun for me. I never really enjoyed
warjacks until this point.
