Jason Soles had this to say on the subject of who can hire which mercs according to the MkII cards and ally rules. I copied this over because our own George Spiggott originally posed this question on the PP boards.

I would suggest that players wait until the MkII rules are released before basing purchases on them. The addition of the Cephalyx into the Four Star contract was an error we caught during the Field Test that will be remedied in the final rules. Sorry for the delay, I would have replied to this thread sooner if I would have spotted it.


The quote is a little out of context, but the gist of the thread is that things could still change for MkII, and this is Warmachine's lead game designer basically confirming it. So Merc players in general shouldn't pick up Cephalyx, and buyer beware if you play Trolls and are thinking about Boomhowler or want to play Retribution and are thinking about Aiyana and Holt, etc.
