Welcome.

All the kids play SM or Tau.

Everyone around here plays orks.

I'm working on BAs and Daemons, and hope one day to win the lottery and collect IG.

Choosing an army is a very personal decision, and not one that can be made for you! however, consider why you want to play:
1) if winning games and pwnzing n00bs is everything, search these forums for the armies that everyone whines about, and then choose that army! a Chaos space marine built around Lash would be a fine example of a powerful, and hated army list.
2) If fluff gets you off, read the main rule book, and hit some of the WH40k fiction out there, and then chose the fluffiest army (NOT the hello kitty spase marheens)
3) consider what sort of painter you are, and how you want your armies to look - if you are dedicated, careful painter, with heaps of skills, I think Eldar, Tau, and IG all offer great painting opportunities as they have lots of flat spaces with opportunities for freehand. If you prefer the simple style of 3 complementing colours and can manage a neat job, SM's, are a great choice, as are Necrons. If you are 'rough and ready' gettem on the table quick - consider orks or nurgle csm's - they are 'more forgiving' army choices.
You cant go past hitting the galleries, and having a look at some of the great paint jobs here, and seeing what you like!
4) if you want a choice that GW will contiune to support, dont go Dark Eldar (cool fluff, cool models, no codex since 3rd? edition).
5) Finally, if you want an army which complements tactics you prefer (ie stand back and shoot with your tau, bring the choppy goodness with your orks etc) then do your research and maybe read some of the battle reports.

Best of luck, and welcome!

(I recommend dedicating your life to the chaos gods - go out an take some skulls!)

Just choose the army that has the coolest-looking miniatures - you have to live with them, after all....

Except Tau.

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

Okay, so the male version of "Cougar" is now officially "Albatross".

That's a really great response and so glad you agree with giving yourself to the chaos gods. Since you know your stuff and I'm new what's a better addition to a Chaos Undivided force Noise Marines or more regular Chaos Marines?
