Decided I should start a log on Dakka following my progress as I build a Valhallan army. I sculpted and casted a bunch of pieces (40) to some success, but many of the casts were very poor (I was impatient). I will post pics of the sculpts at a later date but, for now, I have converted and painted the first Mortar Team (which involved trimming down the shoulder pads and then blending that in with the soft armor plus extending the skirt to make it more like a greatcoat). Expect lots of updates this month, I'm planning on painting up 500pts for a doubles tourney.

Also, I need a regiment number for my Valhallans- any suggestions (and if they are fluff references, please post links or explain so I know what that regiment favors!)

Why is that one guardsman pointing his gun in the air?

You do know that GW make valhallans right?

They look ok,I just don't like the green armour along with the white armour.

I like the use of the Pig Iron heads, but I'm not a fan of what's going on. Everything on the base feels disjointed and detracts from the overall effect. The idea is great, but perhaps you could make them a little less chunky and the posing a little more cohesive?

I think the armor should match the terrain they are fighting in. The base below the snow should be brownish mud not blue. The guardsman arm straight up should be aimed forward or down at the ground.

I can understand that. But I think even if it was based like a glacier it would be white, you would rarely see blue ice unless you were on a lake. And I don't think you wanna fire too many mortar rounds on a lake.

actually I live in the north... Sweden to be most exact, and on glaciers here you often see blue-ish white snow.
