The first time I played it I didn't get into it that much becuase it didn't have the job I wanted in it yet (Choppa) and the server I picked wasn't that populted.

When I went back later I got both problems resolved and I really enjoy it quite a bit. The first teir (levels 1-11) are meh becuase you don't start doing large group assaults in RvR until tier 2. Unlike Warcraft each side knows exactly who they are (good versus evil) and it makes taking it to the other team that much more satisfying. In WoW I never really hated the other side, they were just a nuisance sometimes. In this you really bond with your team mates and want to crush them. It isn't balanced for 1v1 type encounters, each class is designed to play a role in a group. It has a lot to do as you can choose from PvE, Scenarios (capture the flag, ect ect) and RvR. If you get tired of one you can always do another, or just level all the way doing one of them. Later on there are dungeon runs but the endgame is pretty much taking zones until you can sack the opposing sides home city (Altdorf will burn!). You get xp and drops off players like you would PvE mobs.

It seems like WoW at the outset but like Virtua Fighter and Soulcaliber are superficially similiar, they really deviate quite a bit from each other. The environments are nice and certainly have a Warhammer feel to them. In the Empire areas it will seem like you walked into a Mordhiem game. It is also fun to see the units from the real game in the MMO. I flew to the Inevitable City (Chaos home area) and saw a Changer Of Ways walking around then fly away. In one PQ a Bloodthirster walks up on you and he is HUGE. It's also the smaller stuff like seeing the Empire soldiers and Trolls looking just like the models. Especially when the trolls vomit on you.

As with any MMO, ymmv, so it is worth a try if interested. If you want a free trial let me know and I can get you one.

Unfortunately my gig cap won't allow me to download it at the moment,oh damn I hate having a gig cap.

Maybe I'll get it,Oh I dread downloading those patches.

What would you suggest as a good starter class?

Depends on what it is you want to do. There are four basic roles:

Tank: Take damage and disrupt enemy formations. Set up shield walls and hold off enemy advances. In PvE they keep the enemies attention of the squishier elements.

Melee DPS: These do lots of damage in melee combat. Not as survivable as Tanks but greater damage. Tend to die a lot.

Healers: Uhm, kind of obvious, helps keep people alive and support the party. Still do damage and debuffs.

Ranged DPS: Like Melee DPS but tend to be even easier to kill, but do lots of damage from a distance.

Within the roles the different classes can play very differently. A Bright Wizard (RDPS) unleashes fiery death as a pretty stand mage where as the Shadow Warrior (RDPS) moves between the bow and swords with different stances. Marauder (Chaos MDPS) changes his arms to different forms to focus on different attacks (Area of Effect, Single Target, greater survivability) and wears medium armor whereas the Witch Hunter does high single target DPS but is far more fragile. They are both Melee but one charges from the front and the other uses stealth to sneak behind enemy lines and take out the mages.

The best place to look around and see what you might like is Warhammer Alliance. Just check out the class forums and you'll be able to learn about them.

They can be pretty cool but I would recommend get the Aura twisting mod if you want to play one. Chosen (and it's mirror Knight of the Blazing Sun) use auras to boost their parties/themselves. Each buff lingers after canceling it, not disappearing instantly, so they do what is called 'twisting' in which you cycle through auras keeping multiple buffs up at a time. The auras tend to also effect the enemy as well, often being something like "all party members in range gain 30 STR, all enemies within 15 feat have their STR reduced by 15". The mod allows you to set one button as an aura button so all you have to do is hit that button every so often and it will switch to the next aura instead of always having to manually select a different one all the time.
