Yes, I enjoyed Dead Space quite a bit. Not fantastic but good and a solid play.

It's fun. A bit scary, but more in the jumpy whats-that-in-the-corner way that Doom has. Not like F.E.A.R's serious horror.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Dead Space is not multiplayer. The single-player is still awesome, however. It has a very well-written story and the atmosphere is excellent.

If you're going to play it, I highly recommend watching the anime prequel movie, Dead Space: Downfall. Graphic as hell, but it does a good job of explaining how it all started.

I ask you to consider older fair (or is that fare) like Kameo for the 360. It isn't exactly sci-fi but I thought it was an awesome game... kind of classic Metroid-y type play with you get neat abilities/powers that were utilized to get through different situations. Or maybe GRAW2... though not exactly 'sci-fi' the tech in it was pretty cool/fun.

Dead Space is great, however, unless you think you'll really love it I'd give it a rental.

I loved Dead Space. the lack of a HUD really made it that much more immersive. i'd definitely reccomend it, but you HAVE to play it on an HD tv, otherwise you wont be able to read any text in the game.

Not true.

I had no problem reading any of the text on my 27" SDTV.

The campaign is fun, especially in co-op.

I do, however, think the online multiplayer is terrible. The weapon balance is way off.

World at War suffers from "wussy gun sound" complex paired with over the top swearing and metal music.

More like it suffers from automatic weapons that have absolutely no recoil - even when fired from the hip, Submachine guns more accurate than rifles at range, and completely ahistorical weapon "attachments" such as the silly "aperture" sights.

Not to mention a bolt action rifle does more damage when you have a scope equipped

Terrible multiplayer, in my opinion. Has some pretty awful maps too. Dome may just be the worst multiplayer map i've ever had the displeasure of playing.

For multiplayer of this fashion i'm sticking with CoD4 until Modern Warfare 2 comes out.

But I could be too busy playing Battlefield 1943.

For a good World War II game, you can't go wrong with Call of Duty 3. Short campaign, but man was it fun.

For WW2 FPS my favorite series is the Brothers in Arms series. The first two titles are on the Xbox, and I believe the third title saw a multi-platform release. I believe there some handheld versions floating around, but i've not played them.

The two Xbox titles are NOT backwards compatible on the Xbox 360 - which is really annoying.

They're squad based. Typically you control an assault team and a base of fire team.

The first two games are about the Normandy landings. The third game is about Market Garden.

I know that BiA: Road to Hill 30 is on the PS2. I've yet to try it out, but I've heard good things about it.

A really good game was condemned. Scared the crap out of me. But if you just want to find something to do to screw around, the best choice imo is Oblivion.

Definately.

Dead space is very very good. One of the best stories I've come across in a game. Gameplay is great, and you'll be crapping your pants.

I would however rent it. I don't think it has much replay value, but I don't know whether that's because I'm too scared to play it again on hard or whether I'm not so bothered anymore cus I know the story.

Probably the freakiest game me and my friends ever played. Not only that but it's also a great game to play AND it has a good story.

QFT.

I spent like 10 hours playing without even finishing the first main plot quest.

If you're looking for a good Sci-Fi game, and you haven't yet picked up Fallout 3, I definitely recommend it.

As in the aforementioned Oblivion, it's a great game to 'just screw around', but it's probably more your cup of tea. The setting for Fallout is one of the most unique I've ever seen for an RPG (Imagine if culture didn't progress past the 50's, yet technology progressed greatly, and then World War 3 broke out and mutated everyday living things into horrendous creatures). Fallout 3 is the first game to ever perfect a mixture of completely real-time combat and traditional strategic RPG combat (Trust me, Mass Effect has absolutely nothing on it). If you haven't played an Elder Scrolls game before, you will be completely blown away by the immense size and freedom that the game world gives you. The leveling system is great, though it's not quite as good as the Elder Scrolls series, in my opinion. The combat system is way more fun than Oblivion or Morrowind, though, so it evens out. Unlike any bioware game, making a good or evil choice can actually have a profound effect on the game world (For instance, one of the first towns you enter has a nuclear missile planted in the center of it. You can actually blow the entire town up if you so choose). And there's tons of humor buried just beneath the game's somber and depressing exterior.

It's not multiplayer, but it would be a shame if you never experienced Fallout 3 for yourself.

I wouldn't call Dead Space a horror, but definitely an excellent, intense game. There's a lot of in your face action that offers quite a bit of fun if that's what you're looking for.

And Schindler's List is a light-hearted comedy in the lieu of Hogan's Heroes.

Dead Space is a third-person survival horror-action video game.
