Why dont the dark eldar have them?

surely they get there souls eaten by slannesh too?

Dark Eldar are special. They feed Slaanesh other souls for immortality. And anyway, Dark Eldar are what Eldar were like Pre Fall, so they wouldnt have adopted the customs of the Craftworlders.

There's also the fact that Slaanesh's pull is lessened in Cammoraugh (SP, sorry).

They have them...




Nothing give them more pleasure than taking them from Craftworld eldar, and slowly feeding its contents to Slannesh.

Because they can be killed, the same way as the Emperor or the Sensei.

I thought the dark eldar they feed OFF OF Souls because slannesh is constantly feeding off of theirs.

Either way, they don't need spirit stones bacause they're already damned, no matter what.

I read somewhere that the reason they torture people is to mask their own presence while in the Material Universe because slaanesh will be more concerned with the person actually suffering than the one causing the suffering.

Dark Eldar fluff is somewhat lacking, due to the fact that they have a little pamphlet for a codex.

Whether Slaanesh eats the souls directly or the Dark Eldar eat them and have those in turn eaten by Slaanesh seems a little blurry. Same result either way though.

He's a "professional" eater he at sixty some odd hot dogs in ten minutes.

What I remember reading in the DE codex was that they sacrifice souls to Slenesh so that he will leave them be, Slenesh leaves them alone so that they can do his dirty work of harvesting souls.....................its kind of a "Better you than me" mentality towards the other races.....

This is the impression that I have gained from various fluff:

Slaanesh's very existence is tied so strongly to all eldar that their soul is slowly leeched into the Warp throughout their existence.

The craftworld (and presumably exodite) eldar deal with this by wearing soulstones. The little fragments are either trapped within, or something about their nature prevents the fragmentation; considering that they have to fetch the raw material from daemon infested crone worlds, it could work either way. When they die, their fleeing soul is trapped within the stone and can then be collected by their allies and transfered to the wraithbone networks, to keep it safe.

Dark eldar suffer the same problems, and nothing in the fluff prevents the same soulstone method working on them. They hang around in the webway because it lessens the rate at which the decay happens, but it is still an issue. However, getting your eternal essence trapped in a small, easily transportable gem and the potential for being horribly consumed by She Who Thirsts should it break isn't terribly appealing to them, because then it would be their allies collecting it: this is a Bad Thing. Possibly better than getting eaten by a chaos god, but not by much. Instead, they buffer their souls by consuming those of others. It's not known if this means that the other soul is consumed instead, if it repairs their leaky soul, or if it melds in somehow. I'd lean towards the last, for other eldar at least. It would explain why they're actually willing to fight each other so much, even in gladatorial arenas somewhere safe against other dark eldar. Yes, dying is a bad thing, but the codex has a dracon who thinks she is about to die commenting on 'the soulstuff swirling about her, as if drawn to her eminent demise' or something to that effect, and not appearing as concerned about her soul joining them as much as what will be done to her before she is allowed to die. So having your soul consumed by another dark eldar is apparently much better than it being consumed by Slaanesh.

Harlequins are the exception to the soul draining. Their initiation involves being deliberately possessed by a greater demon of slaanesh, and then having to cast it out. It is implied that doing this correctly protects them from the gradual soul decay their kind suffers, and then their god rescues their intact souls upon death. Unless something goes wrong and the demon takes your soul with it when you kick it out, at which point you become a Solitaire and are pretty much condemned already. Nothing is mentioned about if you fail to cast the demon out. Presumably you don't take the soulstone off until after you pass the test and the other harlequins kill you if you don't get rid of the demon before the time limit is up.

prefall the eldar had plesure cults this goes waaaaay back to when they ruled a hell of a lot of galaxy
the plesure of the eldar spawned slannesh
the eldar had a massive dispute eg eldar whated to preserve there souls in soul gems which stops them goin to slannesh when they die
the dark eldar preserve there souls by feeding of slaves souls hence why there piratical raiders
feeding off the souls prolongs there life

they still can be shot both of em which kills them
