Hi,

I have a small batRep and 2 questions. I will start with the battleReport...

My list:
Denny
Deathripper
Deathripper
Cankerworm
Nightmare
Skarlock
Pistolwraith
Bilethralls (6)
Mechanithralls(6)

His list
Vlad
3 MOW shocktroopers
3 MOW Democorps
MOW Kovnik
Manhunter
winterguard + UA and Rocketeer
WG Mortar
WG Fieldgun
Widowmakers

Both are not the best of the best lists. I like the 2 unique jacks and they are maybe a bit much, but my list had a slayer originally and he wanted to play approx 20 points more. That's the upgrade to nightmare... He used the jackless Khador list for the first time. In hindsight he thought he should have taken Sorcha. I think he is right, but we will get to that...

Deployment was pretty straightforward. The middle was empty and he had clear shots with his mortar and widows. Only way to win was a knockout of his caster, because I was not going to be able to go through the winterguard and MOW and survive the turns of shooting...

First turn I run up with my stealthy jacks and a ripper on my right flank. Next my caster ran to that side, sitting on 4 focus (nothing to cast...). The mechthralls go forward to just ioutside widowrange. Biles redeploy to the left. Pistolwraith runs towards the MOW ST.. He had deployed his vlad and the MOW ST on the side my jacks now where and the widows and fieldgun where deployed next to them. on the left he had the democorps and the winterguard. The manhunter was also on that flank. (Bad deployment, I know...). His first rturn he shoots a mechthrall with the mortar. rest advances. Vlad casts BOK and Windwall. Nightmare preyed Vlad and moved directly towards him and his MOW bodyguard. That's it...

My turn 2 I charge the MOW with nightmare He Kills 2 with his attacks and then has to wait to be destroyed... (did not expect the MOW to survive... I run a ripper and the wraith forward. The cankerworm prepares to charge over the wreck of the nightmare... Denny ran up to within 14 inch of the nightmare but just outside of vlad. On the other sides he was distracted with the biles and mechthralls, which kept more than half of his force in panick (he dislikes biles ) In his turn he bashes Nightmare with vlad (who used BOK) and the trooper. Nightmare survived but was disabled (damn, I counted on it being terrain for the worm)... the rest did nothing of interest.

From now on all I will talk about is going for the caster kill. That is my main goal as the rest is not attainable...

Ripper on left runs into position to let denny scourge. Denny Feats, then scourges on the nightmare letting it live with 1 point (damn...) Vlad and the shocktrooper and nightmare are knocked down. She casts parasite on vlad. The wraith shoots at vlad. Both shots hit and total damage is 8 or 9. He gets chilled. His turn he then knock out a windwall with vlad, having nothing better to do because of the stacked effects. thwey don't even touch the disabled nightmare who is in the way. He does knock out the node on the ripper.

My turn I go for the kill. 3 focus on cankerworm and 4 on denny. Parasite is upkept. Denny casts venom while standing behind nightmare. She hits nightmare and kills it with a boosted damage (had to kill it now). Vlad is corroded and sufers some damage. the shocktrooper is coroded. Worm goes for the throat and charges over the nightmare (he is dead now and it has all terrain) He then hits vlad (4 dice, boosted attack and meatgrinder) and then does 14 or 15 damage. Enough to kill the weakend vlad. Game Over...

My questions are:
Vlad was knocked down and chilled. Can he cast??
--- We voted yes, because casting can be done before or after the move or action (which where both gone because of stacking effects.)
Can I cast venom on a windwalled target?
---We voted yes, because it is a magic attack, not ranged, but could not really find a reference to it (other then what was on battleCollege.

Yes to both questions. Good kill on Vlad - I agree that his list looks a little more tuned to Sorscha.

is there any pagereference to stacking effects and if you can use magic if you lost that part of the activation?? Maybe a pointer to a faq or something?

Same for the windwall, where in the rules are offensive magic attacks not treated as ranged attacks? (it says they are pretty much ranged attacks in the rulebook prime remix (or did I have to continue reading...)

Warcasters can still cast spells even if they forefit both their movement and action. Effects with the same name may not stack unless they specifically mention in their entry that they do. Spells are magical attacks not ranged attacks. Sorry I don't have page numbers for that right now but these are the correct answers.

The only way a warcaster cannot cast spells is if a spell prevents the casting (such as goreshade's Mage blight) or if the caster runs. Other than that, casting spells does not take an action or anything, although I believe he would have to stand before casting? Might be wrong with that tho.

Right on the money. There are a number of effects that prevent casting but these specifically state that they do so in their description, Mageblight is a good example.
