I've played 40k before. Twelve years or something, at least. So I still had that nurgle army lying around. Ofcourse, since I've always wanted an ork speed freak army and now that I am old and rich(ish... well, I can afford warhammer, 'grin'), I finally got it. Already painted six models, mainly for gorkamorka, which is a great game.

Anyway, first game of 40k current edition. I must say, I like it! It's fast, goes woompf and there you have it.

My brother took my nurgle marines. Since he's an impatiant prick, he just took what I had, ignored points and said 'this is a lasgunner' a couple of times during the game. He deployed at one end of the table on top of a hill, scenery was slight. I deployed at the other end of along table and got first turn.

The game was mostly about discovering about rules and some such. We made horrendous mistakes. For instance, my KFF somehow was super- effective till halfway the game, since it bestowed a 4+ save! Imagine that. As a result, four more marines spawned into lasgunners.

The looted tank (aka da fire engin) did what I suspected it would do. It drove on and did absolutely nothing.

My brother ended up blowing up 2 trucks only. I got lucky with my damage rolls and had many weapons blown off. 'Grin'. Then I charged his marines, and stomped them in 2 turns. Even though I was still facing two dreadnoughts, my brother decided to call it quits.

Well, not an exciting report, I know, but I am really enthousiatoic about this game. (Also,I was really tiered with my goblin horde getting spashed in WHFB by terror causing elves, unbreakable lizards, and goawd darned walking bones)

You have converted to a better game my friend!

If you are happier playing 40K so much the better.

Well, I'll still play WHFB... when the new skaven bok comes out. Goblins, for now, stay in their caves. Hiding.

(Turn one: my two stegadons advance. Yes, they cause terror. Oh dear, ld 6? Oh, dear, you missed that one. Thanks god you have a battlestandard around, right. Oh, that's... sad. Well, uhm, good game... euhr... see you around...)

damn those stegadons! Yeah orcs are a lot more effective in 40k imo.

I like the small warbiker squads. I see them as fast poweklaws. 18" str 9 weapons, cant really be ignored. But then again, neither can 90 trukk orks!

The looted wagon - Battlewagons (or anything else) I think are better.

Warbuggies? Deffkoptas @ T4(5) 2W and the ability to either use a 4+ save or 4(or 3?)+ cover save with 24" turboboosting movement to get to thier target and perhaps even thier side armor seems to me like a better idea. Otherwise I'd say you couldnt go wrong with another warbiker squad.

How did the burnas work for you?

They pushed the wrong button and the looted tank went fubar...

The looted tank and burnaz are there for fun. Burnaz can be effective in some rare occasion, I think, but I fear these will be rather rare.
