Hi Guys!

I'm not sure what part of the 40k forum to really put this in as it is quite long at the moment, but seeing as there are battle reports in it this seems appropriate lol

Anyway... Me and my mates during the holidays from university decided to launch a campaign using all 5 of our Imperial Guard Armies, as well as some borrowed ones. Seeing as i have the most time on my hands i agreed to be the campaign organiser and duly went about sorting scenarios out.

The basic premise is thus (following the date system we are using)

Friday 6th January-

The Imperial palace in the nation of Raltan is sieged by angry civilians after various new laws and so called Imperial Decrees. As security cordons are ovverun the Commander of Raltan, Vitoru Javas orders the use of live fire and 163 civilians are killed. 163 civilians are killed in the massacre which is broadcast planetwide in all 4 nations. Britonas and Grilonia condemn the action and order all Raltan security forces out of their countries.

Saturday 7th January-

As riots break out in sub districts of Raltan, the Suppression forces again use live fire and several more civilian protests are crushed and many killed. This brings the first public announcement from Britonas ordering Raltan to cease the genocide, which is ignored. The 4th Nation on the planet, Angrel supports the Raltan struggle however and send its own police forces into the capital to help stabilise the situation.

Sunday 8th January-

'Incident in Celaron' Suppression forces trap an escaping band of both protesters and looters in a warehouse complex, not bothering to seperate peaceful protesters from trouble makers they open fire and kill the lot, sparking more outrage world wide.

Monday 9th January-

The terrorist group 'Nilsor' announces it is responsible for the growing unrest in Raltan and it is planning several attacks on Raltan Suppression forces.

THIS IS WHERE THE FIRST BATTLE REPORT COMES IN- As Suppression forces are tipped off to possible Nilsor movements in the suburb of Landow they move swiftly and catch them holed up inside a set of Imperial Buildings, along with 8 high profile hostages- The objective for The Suppression forces is to neutralise all terrorists, with units that break assumed to be taken prisoner. Two Nilsor guards also stood by the 8 hostages in a central courtyard and every turn two dice were rolled, one for each- any sixes meant a hostage was killed.

Raltan Forces- 3 Chimeras, all containing a unit of 10 stormtroopers
Nislor- Three squads of 10 Mercenaries (guardsmen stats) 3 independant lascannon teams, two hostage guards (guardsmen stats) and a squad of nine mercs including a heavy bolter team.

The scenery consisted of tank traps on the south side of the board with a road running through the middle, with two large buildings in the north and several clumps of trees. The weapon teams were all deployed on the buildings roofs with the mercs hiding behind the trees in the centre. The Chimeras all started behind cover of the tank traps.

Raltan Turn One- All three Chimeras raced forward and then deployed smoke, hoping to avoid the first turn of weapon team fire.

Nislor Turn One- All units stayed put and the weapons teams opened fire, scoring one hit which failed to penetrate the Chimeras Front Armour.

Raltan Turn Two- The first two Chimeras raced inbetween the two buildings and deployed the stormtroopers, with the third attempting to swing round the flank and fire at the hostage guards. The rapid firing from the two stormtrooper squads killed 5 mercs although the remainder managed to hold on. The third Chimera managed to wipe out one of the Lascannon Teams on the rooftops.

Nilsor Turn Two- One hostage was killed as a 6 was rolled. The two undamaged merc squads moved to rapid fire at the stormtroopers and the Lascannon team remaining readied to fire at the Chimera. The rapid firing was resolved first and the deadly flashlights killed 4 stormtroopers, However worse was to come for the Chimera as it was hit in the side armour, easily penetrated and exploded in spectacular fashion, killing 2 inside.

Raltan Turn Three- Wanting to avoid more rapid fire the stormtroopers charged into combat, each attacking a full strength unit of mercs. In the close combat The stormtroopers outmatched both units killing a very gory 7 combined, enough to make one unit flee after taking 6 casualties. The consolidate move pushed them into the Havy Bolter merc unit.

Nilsor Turn Three- No hostages were killed this turn. The lascannon team on the roof managed to kill one of the now unentangled stormtrooper unit, and another was killed in close combat. In return the stormtroopers wiped out the lascannon team and yet again the dice god favoured the brave as the stormtroopers killed TEN in close combat!!!

Raltan Turn Four- a sneaky glitch had occured, with the merc units all engaged in combat, the last stormtrooper squad could only fire at the hostage guards, expertly putting bullets in both of them and ending the short and sweet scenario with a Raltan victory with the loss of only one hostage!

Anyway guys, thats the first encounter in the campaign, give me some feedback if you want me to continue putting things down in this forum, as there is quite a lot- so far we have just finished scenario 9, so let me know if you want me to continue with the Raltan-Britonas War campaign!

It is nice to see linked campaign battles with scenarios that are more developed than just the ones from the book. I applaud your group and hope to continue reading about this campaign. I can't wait to see your other scenario ideas.

Ok, sorry about that delay but work has a habit of crushing free time.

Anywaaaaaay on with the scenario-

After the incident with the hostages, Raltan authorities order the regular army to move in and crush all rebellions in the country.

At 5pm on January 9th the first clashes between the Raltan Army and the Nilsor Mercenaries occuers at 'Checkpoint Tango' on the border with Britonas. Raltan civilians are attempting to flee into Britonas and away from the chaos.

For this scenario it was a standard, fairly low uneven points match but the twist was in the middle of the battle was a group of civilians. Whenever lines of fire went through the civilian group they would take d6 casualties. The more casualties the civilians took the more the worlds media saw what was happening and the sooner Britonas was likely to intervene----

For a rough battle report, it started quite comically with a leman russ battle cannon shell scattering ONTO the civilians and killing 5. This led to the Britonas border guards opening fire and managing to blow the cannon from the tank. The Nilsor Mercanries consisted of 2 infantry squads, with a few looted trucks (armour 10 all round, open topped, no weapons) several independant weapon teams and a sniper special weapons unit, with Raltan having a Leman Russ Tank, 2 Mortar support teams and two units of Raltan regulars.

The mortars were the big difference, proving very deadly against the lightly armoured Mercenaries. The snipers were the only thing that mounted any kind of resistance, proving equally effective against the enemy. When the battle was well and truly lost, Nilsor fired on the civilians and managed to kill another 6 of them. The britonas border guards were also killed when a truck mounted infantry squad assaulted the gates. In total 34 Nilsor mercenaries were killed, with the 2 survivors (a heavy bolter weapon team the Raltan player forgot about) taken prisoner. 13 Raltan infantrymen were killed, with the Leman russ damaged along with 11 civilians and 6 Britonas Border guards.

8pm- A few hours after this brutal skirmish, the Britonas president orders troops into the border station to recover the bodies of the guards and threatens swift military action if anyone attempts to intervene.

10pm- Raltan commander Javas orders Britonas to stand down and not enter its territory, otherwise there would be consequences.

Tuesday 10th January-

8am-  Britonas states that Raltan presents a threat to any hope of peace on the planet of Tallas IV and the president Alex Racher publicly supports the dissenters. The nation of Grilonia adds its support to this message and together they send troops in to recover the bodies of the 6 border guards.

11am-  The raltan commander claims in a broadcast that he has the emperors decree, despite the planet being cut off and surrounded by warp storms for over 80 years. With this decree he orders the bombing of Probaris, a suburb of Raltan. The rioters in this region are wiped out with the loss of thousands of civilians

3pm- Britonas states that the bombing was the last straw and failure to stop all hostilities to the civilian population by the deadline of midday on the 11th January would result in military action by Britonas and her ally.

10pm- Unknown to Raltan, the Britonas high command send in an elite team of S.T.A.R.S troops (The britonas player has built an entire imperial guard army on a resident evil theme, hence the name s.t.a.r.s. for his stormtroopers) to a radar detenction facility on the border. Their mission is to neutralise the station to cover the Britonas attack.

GAME 3---In this scenario, there were 11 S.T.A.R.S including a sergeant, grenade launcher, melta gun and flamer and 2 snipers

Raltan had in total 23 infantrymen, 6 who were posted in the corridors as sentries, including a heavy bolter weapon team guarding the entrance to the electronics room. The rest were in the barracks room. There were also 4 security cameras that the S.T.A.R.S had to take out to avoid raising the alarm. And a fixed Heavy bolter placed into a mounted wall anywhere the defender wished. Lastly the whole game took place using sections of space hulk board to represent the facility, apart from the entrance.

It started well enough for the S.T.A.R.S, with the snipers killing both outer security guards, enabling them to move to the entrance undetected. From there they were also able to eliminate one security camera before it detected them, by sniping again. After running into a sentry unexpectedly, Sergeant  Eversham engages him in close combat. This brave but very foolish action meant the sergeant was spooted by 2 cameras and the heavy bolter team, which raised the alarm- so much for covert ops.

The S.T.A.R.S manage to kill 5 troopers, two barracks guards, a sentry and two guardsmen that investigate the alarm. In return the hand to hand combat doesnt go well and Sergeant Eversham is reduced to one wound.

After assuming a circle formation to cover all hallways, the S.T.A.R.S gun down two more Raltan soldiers and Sergeant Eversham managed to kill his combatant.

This is a very bad thing to have happened however, as the wall mounted heavy bolter now has a shot at him and kills the sergeant twice over. With all soldiers now out of the barracks three more of the S.T.A.R.S are killed in action. After moving half out of the crossfire of the heavy bolters, one of the crew is killed by a sniper, along with another Raltan regular. Too late to save the rest of squad alpha, who are wiped out.

Squad Bravo, now desperate engage the emerging troopers from the barracks, killing 4 in rapid fire and flamer death. The return volley is understandably weak but still one S.T.A.R.S member is killed by a lucky lasgun shot to the temple. The person responsible is quickly dispatched by a sniper.

The game is very close at this point, with both sides running out of men, if the S.T.A.R.S could eliminate all troops it was assumed the mission was a success so there was still hope.

The remainder of Bravo team gun down two troopers from across the hallway, emerging from the mess hall although through weight of numbers a sniper and S.T.A.R.S trooper are killed in return. This left 5(??) S.T.A.R.S member including the all important melta gunner, needed to destroy the electronics. In a Butch cassidy and the sundance kid moment the 5 elites run past the heavy bolter placements and kill another trooper on the run, although the bravo team soldier catches a bullet in the return fire. In the last stand the melta gun is fired on the electronics door, destroying it, with the last sniper killing a Raltan tropper. However 2 more S.T.A.R.S are killed. The melta gunner enters the electronics room and melts one of the two guards at the console, with the sniper being wounded several times in the hallway and finally killed.

Now in the last action, the melta gunner fires at the last guard- if he can kill him and survive the expected rapid fire he could blow the electronics and win the scenario- He shoots-- HITS and then FAILS TO WOUND WITH A MELTA GUN. It was all irrelevant anyway as he was then killed by the remaining facility troops and the mission ends in failure and disaster- 21 raltan soldiers died and the HQ was alerted to the attack for the loss of all 11 S.T.A.R.S.

Wednesday 11th January-

1am-  Raltan high command responds to the covert attack by sending the 7th armoured division as well as 2nd 3rd 8th and 12th infantry divisions to the border with Britonas.

10am-  The nation of Angrel, long time ally of Raltan pledges support to their effort and vows to send military aid.

11.55am- Minutes before the expected deadline the Raltan artillery positions behind the front line open fire on Britonas positions- the war has officially started- The vastly outnumbered and outclassed Britonas artillery returns fire although with 1/10th the effect of the enemy.

3pm- FIRST CLASHES--- Elements of the Britonas 9th advance army, led by general foxborough meet the Raltan 3rd Imperial defence force in a suburb called Gallan. After the failed facility covert attack the raltan player deploys all forces second to represent the well dug in resistance Britonas meets.

Forces were roughly-

Britonas-
Hq squad (officer foxborough, medic, standard, 2 melta gunners) with Chimera Transport
2 Leman Russ Battle Tanks
3 Chimeras, each containing a stormtrooper unit

Raltan-
HQ Squad (Officer Damash, medic, heavy bolter team, master vox)
2 Leman russ battle tanks
4 Infantry squads (all with heavy bolters)
10 ratling snipers
anti tank fire support squad
heavy bolter support squad
Armoured fist squad

Britonas got the first turn, with the 'heroic' officer Foxborough immediately choosing to hide behind a dense wood. The three chimeras moved further into the centre of the battle mostly behind cover and the two leman russes sat tight to support their advance. In the shooting phase the first leman russ scored a lucky hit on the Raltan HQ squad, killing the medic and the heavy bolter team. The second missed the ratling snipers by a whisker.

In reply the armoured fist squad on the extreme flank sped to the left in an attempt to get into the action. The ratling snipers decided to move up to an observation tower, as currently they couldnt wound anything.Despite the three chimeras popping smoke a Raltan Leman russ scored a 6 on a glancing hit with its lascannon, destroying the APC and killing 4 stormtroopers. The anti tank squad, situated on a hill made short work of the exposed HQ APC, shredding its armour and detonating it.

The two Chimeras sped round the side of the observation tower out of sight for the time being, with both squads unloading. Taking aim the lema russes both scored direct hits on the same infantry unit, wiping them out and then some.

The ratling snipers, fully rested from their trip up the ladder readied their aim to fire at the unloaded stormtroopers, with the far flank armoured fist squad again moving full speed towards the HQ hiding behind the wood. The second leman russ also moved full speed to get into position. The anti tank squad on the hill scored a penetrating hit on the first Britonas leman russ, detonating the ammo racks and killing all inside. The massacre continued as theratling snipers killed another 3 stormtroopers. Lastly one unlucky stormtrooper exposed to all three heavy bolters of the fire support team was killed exactly 5 times over.

Both stormtrooper squads charged up the tower and engaged the ratling snipers in close quarters, while the now free from entangled unit suicidally ran into the open intending to get close and use the melta gun on the leman russ. The remaining Britonas Leman russ moved from cover, hitting the Armoured fist squad APC, destroying it easily and killing 3 of the squad inside.  The stormtroopers made quick work of the ratlings, killing 6 then catching the rest in the  following rout.

Already a tough ask for the Britonas army, it became a lot worse very quickly, with the remainder of the armoured fist squad moving around the woods and engaging the HQ squad. The freshly victorious stormtroopers now faced 2 leman russ battle cannons, 24 lasguns, 3 heavy bolters, 3 lascannons and a the fire support team- Needless to say all that remained of them were a few bits of carapace armour scattered here and there. The third suicidal unit was spared as everything fired at the other two units. The Britonas HQ had all 4 guardsmen killed with General Foxborough standing alone.

The last Leman russ moved again and decided to launch a shell at the anti tank squad on a hill. Highly risky the shot scattered and managed to kill one of the heavy bolter teams instead. The suicide unit moved within range of the melta gun, fired, hit the leman russ, Scored a penetrating hit and...... rolled a one, shame.

Revenge was swift as the unit was wiped out by three squads rapid firing flashlights and General Foxborough survived the rapid fire against him, thanks to his refractor field. The leman russ was immobilised and had the battle cannon smashed off. With this last action General Foxborough decided to retreat.... or run as fast as he could anyway.

General Foxborough was a created character at the start of the campaign and one of his special rules is that he recieved S.T.A.R.S. training, which meant if he was on the losing side of a battle and survived he would always evade capture and not become a POW. so he managed to retreat back to his armys camp.

6pm- the conflict is a stalemate so far with neither side managing to make any advances on the border front. Grilonia starts to ship troops over the Wendell ocean to Britonas, to assist in the war while the Raltan artillery continues to be dominant over its Britonas counterpart.

Thursday 12th January

1am-  The Raltan artillery continues to attack Britonas positions and with the regular army unable to break through the front lines to stop it, The S.T.A.R.S. 17th airborne regiment, led by Veteran Sergeant Jack Tanson are ordered to launch an air drop behind enemy lines, find one of the gun batteries and destroy them.

2.30am- 4 'Shire' class Stealth Planes fly over the landing zone, dropping 4 squads of S.T.A.R.S airborne troops.

The battlefield was set up as an L shapewith the artillery battery on the point between the two lines, There was very heavy cover and nightfighting rules in effect only for the Raltan forces, as the S.T.A.R.S all had nightfighting goggles. There were several squads of infantry guarding the guns and 6 servitors as the gun operators.  The defenders also had a number of roaming sentries.

The S.T.A.R.S again started very well, eliminating a number of sentries through sniper rifles (converted models that were already earning their points back in the campaign). Sergeant Tanson's unit swept down the left flank using the heavy cover of trees and ammo drums to avoid detection. while the remainder linked up for a frontal assault. The flamer in Tansons unit was responsible for no less than 5 kills in one shot although the frontal attack stalled for a second as casualties were higher than expected. Despite this the attack pressed home and there was hth combat fought on the artillery guns themselves- the last shooting being a gun servitor sneakily trying to kill Sergeat Tanson, but missing all 3 shots with his heavy bolter.

The superior stats of the stromtroopers told and the remaining Raltan forces fled the gun emplacement after suffering over 50% casualties (we used a necromunda style 'bottle out' test for this scenario) However the frontal attack had taken a bit too long and there was only time to plant demo charges on two of the three artillery guns, meaning a partial success for Britonas.

In the airborne drop 2 guns were destroyed and 37 Raltan troopers killed including the 6 servitors

23 S.T.A.R.S were alive at the end, including the sergeant, two medics, two demo charge troopers, flamer, 2 greande launchers, 2 snipers and a lucky 13 stormtroopers.

midday-- with the Gamma Zone battery reduced to one working gun, the Britonas 9th army is able to regroup after the defeat suffered at Gallan and after a brief firefight they manage to inch forward into Raltan. Air superiority is still in the balance with running dogfights over the entire border.

4pm-  The remaining S.T.A.R.S from the airborne drop are radioed an evac site they must head to, which involves traversing through a border mountain range, avoiding the patrols of the Raltan army and await pick up by stealth craft.

This was a fairly relaxed scenario based on kill team but with larger numbers on both sides. Moving in two large groups the Stormtroopers were never in danger of being overwhelmed, taking out groups of patrols as they encountered them. The only resistance to note came at the very end of the scenario, when the S.T.A.R.S had to scale a cliff wall up to the extraction point. The mistake was made to send up every trooper at once, meaning they could not return fire when discovered by several patrols- 6 S.T.A.R.S. were killed during the cliff scaling- all normal stormtroopers. However once up on the clifftop, the return fire dispatched the patrols and the evac arrived.

NOTE-- For the airborne drop, destruction of 2 artillery guns and the subsequent action behind enemy lines to get to the evac site, Veteran sergeant Jack Tanson was awarded the Britonas medal of gallantry---

Every battle honour an individual was awarded gave d6 rerolls to the side the person belonged to, to be used whenever. In this case 3

Friday 13th January-

7am- Lord Alfonso Vega of Angrel sends the 1st, 3rd, 9th, 12th 15th and 23rd infantry detachments into Raltan and moves them up to the border fight in reserve.

10.30am- Just east of the S.T.A.R.S evac site, a major push is made by the Britonas 9th army into the mountain region. In their way is the 154th Raltan Imperial defence force led by General Zlatan Rahamovic. This encounter became known as 'the skirmish at alto rinoli'

This battle was epic scale so i won't spend too long on the battle report, as this is the wrong place for it lol But using two flank attacks the Britonas tank formations engage infantry pockets, pinning them with blast markers and inflicting very heavy casualties. A reaver titan is so very nearly destroyed by a deathstrike missile launcher although it manages to hang on just. The main cause of casualties are the Britonas Basilisk detachment, which fired upon more infantry detachments, along with the Britonas reaver titan 'nemisis' which despite being nearly crippled, managed to break 3 Leman Russ tank companies and wipe out several sentinels. After the final turn Raltan had suffered more casualties by a difference of about 20 (counting each infantry stand as 5, so it was very close)

Because of this General Rahamovic orders a retreat further into the mountains, using the Raltan artillery to ensure this is a successful action.

10pm- As the 154th camps in a mountain ravine for the evening, the Angrel 15th army arrives to relive them, taking up defensive positions around the mountain ranges. However two highly trained assasins a Grilonian Callidus and a Britonas master Sniper (Vindicare assassin) penetrate the enemy encampment with the intent to assassinate General Rahamovic.

Random movement was used for all camp guards with a d6 x 2 being used for their spotting distance. This gave a huge advantage to the master sniper. However as we  ALL know vindicare assasins ALWAYS roll 1's to hit and this scenario proved no different, the first three shots missing and causing an alarm to be raised. As the first unit emerged from their camps they were met by a suddenly polymorphing callidus assain who fired the shredder at them, killing 5 and then engaged the rest in combat, killing another 2. This scenario proved to be anything but a secretive action as more and more alarms were raised and eventually after cutting swathes around her the callidus was undone by a rapid fire volley from nearby alerted guards after killing a squad in close quarters.

Alone, the master sniper pulled his pistol out and sprinted towards the generals tent, killing several on the way and managing to escape with only one wound left. At this point we thought it would be dramatic to have a face off with the general and the assassin. Going first the assasin fired the pistol, causing a wound on the general who then pulled his brace (twin linked) bolt pistols opened fire and caught the assassin square between the eyes. MISSION FAILED

24 Raltan guards were killed but for the loss of both assassins and General Rahamovis survived, ensuring that the 154th remained combat ready.

7pm- Still neither side in the war is making dramatic headway, with the furthest advanced now being the Raltan 9th Army.

Midnight- The northern Port town of Skacel comes under light artillery fire by Britonas positions

Saturday 14th January-

2am- To counter the artillery shelling of Skacel, the garrison retreats and calls up artillery support.

8am- The scouting column of the Britonas 9th army find themselves under attack by Angrel Guerilla fighters during a march through a rocky ravine.

This scenario used a narrow board, with high cliffs to either side for the ravine. The attackers were given 6 missile launcher teams to start the game, then a further d6 after each turn providing there was still at least one undamaged weapons team left alive.

The britonas troops started with 4 sentinels, 20 infantry, including plasma guns, 10 ratling snipers and a Chimera. After every turn the player was allowed to radio one unit from the 9th army  for support.

With the first turn, Angrel managed to destory two of the sentinels with the rocket launchers, along with a single sniper. In return the snipers proved more effective than the vindicare in the previous campaign, wiping out one weapon team. The chimera multilaser. h bolter combo killed off another and finally the two sentinels both managed to take another out together.

2 More weapon teams arrived and attention turned to the sentinels once more, with the 5 rockets being enough to destroy one and remove the weapon of the 4th. the snipers again wiped out a weapons team as did the chimera but the infantry proved unable to hit anything except bits of rock. A Leman Russ battle tank was called up from reserve, taking out another team with the lascannons and heavy bolters.

only 1 weapon team arrived this time and fired at the side armour of the russ, not managing to penetrate the tank, however the other two teams managed to kill 4 of the britonas infantry. In reply the leman russ scored a battle cannon hit on a weapon team crushing them utterly while the snipers killed another, leaving one team alive. From reserve came another Chimera APC.

3 weapons teams arrived  and fired onto the newly arrived Chimera, immobilising it and stunning the crew. The other team fired on the ratling snipers, killing one. In return the Leman russ about turned, fired its heavy bolters and lascannon and killed one team, the chimera saw to another and the snipers killed the third, with one team remaining it was up to the up to this point useless infantry, one plasma gun overheated killing the handler- great start- The second barbecued the loader and the long range flashlight attack saw to the other.

The Britonas 9th army managed to fight free of the Guerilla attack, but sustained moderate casualties.

6pm- The Britonas 9th army encounters a bunker complex in the mountain range- after sending in a scout squad of S.T.A.R.S it is determined that the complex has been abandoned for whatever reason. The army sets up camp in and around the bunker complex to recover from the guerilla attacks it has suffered all day.

Really, cool. It is great to hear about all of these units being used. Snipers, and hellguns, and mortars are fine against IG, but not so good against everything else. It is interesting to hear about how these units are working for you.

Fresh-Faced New User

Well the Ratling Snipers are so far proving to be without a doubt the most effective unit in the campaign. The mortars haven't been used all that much but when they were they were also deadly, Although as you say as soon as those units come up against MEQ's they'll struggle. Oh and the heavy use of hellguns is because as i mentioned earlier one of the players is such a fan of stormtroopers he bases all of his armies around them.

I think what has allowed us to use so many diverse units so far is the fact that we are using 5 Imperial Guard armies, with a total of about 21,000 points give or take, a forgeworld baneblade and a valkyrie, a distant friends scratch built titan, 2 Old style Imperial Guard Epic armies and one Imperial psyker named Bob Chuckle.

I'll post the next few days of the campaign this evening so you can see the updates

Sunday 15th January

1am- Angrel Guerilla teams launch a river assault in the northern port town of Skacel, in an attempt to destroy artillery guns brought up by Britonas to pound the city. three 5 man teams are sent across the river dividing the city and are tasked to slip through enemy patrols.

Angrel-
5 man stormtrooper unit (Sniper, Grenade)
5 man Stormtrooper unit (Flamer, Grenade)
5 man stormtrooper unit (Sniper, Flamer)
2 Collapsible 'Triumph' class Commando boats (converted life guard dingy models) both with a mounted stubber for emergencies, manned by one crewman)

Britonas-
12 Sentries
2 x 10 Imperial Guardsmen in camps around the site
3 Basilisk artillery vehicles
Junior Officer- bolt pistol, power sword

Using night fighting rules again Angrel got the first turn and all three boats moved up to the river bank, unloading the three units- two grouped together in the centre with the flamer, grenade unit on the left flank.

The Britonas sentries all moved in random directions, none being close enough to spot the commandos, even with the help of a light on one of the basilisk.

The left flank unit, moved behind a low wall, unwilling to use the noisy weapons just yet, whereas the centre units took as much cover as they could behind a set of tank traps- One sniper could see a sentry so took aim- hit easily and then managed to take the sentry down. No alarm raised

Again scattering randomly, several sentries went worringly close to the centre unit, but not close enough to spot the enemy yet.

The left flank unit took a risk and advanced from cover to take out one sentry by mobbing up on him, while the other two units split slightly, each attempting to snipe another sentry. The first was taken down with a precise head shot- the second hitting but failing to wound, after a favourable roll the main alarm was not raised however, but the sentry was placed under player control. The mobbing of the sentry was a success with the number of attacks ensuring that he went down easily. No alarm was raised in the attack as he was caught by surprise.

Mini disaster for Angrel as two sentries over on the left scattered within spotting distance, ensuring the alarm would be raised if they were not both eliminated next turn. In the centre, the Junior Officer also scattered closer to the centre than the Angrel commandos would have liked.

In retaliation, both snipers attempted to take out the Junior officer, two hits scored, a disasterous no wounds and an alarm raised- meaning the first squad of infantry emerged from their encampment- On the left flank both sentries were dispatched by rapid fire hellguns- if the stormtroopers had been forced to resort to the grenade launcher it would have meant an automatic alarm.

With the alarm in the middle now raised several sentries by the junior officer were activated, combined with the light of the Basilisk the commandos were now faced with 8 rapid fire lasgun shots and a bolt pistol in the centre, with a further 10 longer range lasguns- The effect was deadly as expected 4 stormtrooper, including a grenade launcher were killed. However on the left flank things looked better for Angrel as two sentries scattered away from the unit.

The remaining stormtrooper from the savaged unit charged in to combat with the Junior officer and the rest fired upon the activated sentries- Killing all 4- The charging stormie was not so lucky and was cut down by the officer. On the left one of the sentries was taken down by hellgun fire, with no alarm being raised.

The three sentries left all rather unhelpfully scattered towards the centre, away from the only undetected stormtrooper unit. The 10 man guard unit and the junior officer all prepared a deadly rapid fire attack on the centre stormies- killing 4, leaving the sniper all on his lonesome.

It was now quite obviously up to the left flank unit, running forward, almost within touching distance of the artillery battery. The sniper deciding that running was probably best, ducked behind a low wall, directly away from the left stormie unit, ensuring that the enemy had to follow him. To try and help the two boats gave away their position by opening fire on the 10 man guard unit, killing 3 of them.

Last chance for Britonas to escape with all guns intact all but dissapeared as the sentries scattered toward the beach landing crafts and away from the only intact unit left. The Britonas forces all swept round the wall and finally killed the sniper with rapid fire weapons.

Running into contact with the first gun, the commandos decided not to detonate a charge yet, instead leaving one stormtrooper at the gun and moving the other 4 away.

One sentry managed to scatter into the river, so we decided comically to say he somehow lost his way and drowned, being very stupid basically. The guard unit was moved towards their camps, back off of alert.

Guns 2 and 3 were reached by stormtroopers and all charges were detonated at once- easily penetrating the Basilisk rear armour- the damage rolls were 4,6 and 4 meaning the guns had been blown and the mission was a success!

6pm- Back in the central sector- The Britonas 9th army send out teams of scouts from the bunker complex to try and locate the enemy armies- when all come back with no signings it seems as though both the Raltan 154th and the Angrel 15th have dissapeared.

4pm- Following the destruction of some of their artillery placements, the Britonas artillery strike on the main dock in Skacel is only partially successful, many tankers and ships remain intact, although one forward hq is caught up in the blasts and destroyed.

Monday 16th January--

1am--- without warning, 3 waves of Raltan Bombers attack the bunker complex in Alto-Rinoli, killing 37 Britonas soldiers caught outside as well as destroying several Leman Russ Tanks.

3am-- Britonas 9th army scouting squad 'Eugene' fail to report in- later revealed that all 5 members of the unit were killed by Angrel snipers- The 9th army goes on alert and once more radiors for reinforcements- Because up to this point in the campaign the Birtonas 9th were the most advanced army in enemy territory they have become cut off on the map. The Grilonian 12th and 5th S.T.A.R.S Mountain regiment are immediately tasked with punching through enemy lines and rescuing them.

7am-- Artillery shells begin to smash down on the bunker complex, being used to this area the Raltan artillery is perfectly zeroed in on the complex and many outer observation posts are destroyed along with 3 sentinels situated near a fuel dump when it is hit

Midday- Angrel forces are spooted advancing on the bunker from all directions- it now becomes clear that the 9th army is completely surrounded in enemy territory.

Also Midday- An armoured company of the Britonas 97th assaults the northern port town of Skacel- encountering high concentrations of anti tank weapons and similar vehicles the assault is bloodily repulsed
(Not bothering with a battle report for this one, on the request of the Britonas player- it was THAT BAD a defeat!! There were a number of bridges in the middle of the battle- Not a single tank managed to cross the bridge!)

4pm- shelling of the bunker complex at Alto-Rinoli officially ends, with the Britonas 9th taking shelter in the complex itself the Angrel forces move in for the kill at 10pm, while the Raltan 154th sends units to cover all the complex's emergency hatch exits
