Magnus vs Sorcha 420 pts(Don't have more mercs jet )

Setup:

Field was pretty open. That will not matter much as sorcha has little shooting in her army. Most events played in the centre.

I started deployment. In the end it looked like this:
renegade | Mangler | Renegade
Magnus | Talon

eiryss advance deployed on my right. Kell on my left.

My opponent deployed sorcha behind beast-09. on her right was the Kovnik and the destroyer. the MOW deployed right of that next to some terrain.

Round 1
My turn I move everything up (no running). I spread out a bit and cast frenzy on the mangler and temper metal on the talon. I sit on the last focus and feat. I run every jack and magnus up so I am over half way.
His turn he moves forward with everything (slowly). He shoots the destroyer and boosts to hit. He still misses the renegade on the far right. He scatters of and does nothing. Sorcha casts fog of war and Boundless charge on the beast.

Round 2
Magnus takes all the focus. 2 are used for upkeeps. My turn I Advance Eirrys and she shoots beast. He can't get focus next turn and has to charge. I then make carefull advancements to not get in chargerange of beast. I forgot reach on beast and that costs me in his turn. magnus then casts blur on the rightside Renegade. Kell on the other side moves again and gets a shot at a MOW. He shoots and I decide to throw damage. I throw an 11 and do 5 damage to a normal MOW. Good going Kell!!
His turn he takes a long time to decide what to do. In the end sorcha moves past beast and the destroyer and feats. the mangler, right renegade and talon are knocked down. She shoots the renegade and boosts damage. 2 damage to grid. Then she windrushes to safety (fog of war is upkept.) Beast then charges Eirryss. I missed the reach and he just makes it to a knocked down eiryss. she dies... He then shoots the bombard at the blurred knocked down renegade. He hits and does 4 damage to grid 6. No systems lost. The kovnik advances to besides the destroyer. The MOW advance around the terrain towards the inevitable battleground. (they where severely misdeployed)

Round 3
Magnus upkeeps 2 spells and gives the knocked down renegade a focus. It is looking grim and I decide to use my first obliterator-rocket. I shoot at the destroyer and hit (boosted hit). I do some light damage to the destroyer. The MOW survives intact, but both are knocked down. Magnus moves up and disrupts beast. Hitting will be difficult for it now. The talon takes up position just under 3 inch from the beast, in front of magnus. Kell kills a MOW and can't damage the leader with his second shot. the mangler whos is in the center moves back a bit to not get charged by the MOW.
He upkeeps the fog and gives 5 focus to sorcha. She casts a AOE that makes me stationary and does little damage. Then moves up the kovnik. The destroyer shoots the talon and hits, but does little damage. Beast moves in on the righthand renegade and does nothing except remove the obliterator arm. (good thing I fired it already. the MOW close in on the mangler.

Round 4 (do or die time)
Magnus upkeeps frenzy. He gives 3 focus to the mangler. Mangler charges forward and uses circular strike. He hits the Kovnik and gets a boosted damage, killing him. He then hits the 2 MOW and destoys them with boosted damage rolls. I then do something stupid and move magnus into contact with beast. He knocks beast down, but does little damage. the renegade and the talon also get to play, but they also do little to nothing. The last renegade not in combat pops out and tries to shoot the non-windrushing sorcha in a desperate attemt to hit her, but he overshoots. kell does nothing.
His turn he gives 3 focus to beast. he uses beast to hit magnus. When the dust clears and all attacks have come and gone, magnus is standing with 1 wound left. He then charges sorcha in. with a boosted hit and damage she finishes the job...

Evaluation
For a first turn using magnus it was a pretty good run. I used to many jacks and that got me in the end I think. I am going to get a gudrun and a bokur and try them out. They sound like a good destructive combo, even on heavy jacks. That is what I missed, ways to disable heavy jacks. I also need to be more carefull in charging with magnus. He does not hit very hard compaired to some other casters and he has low defense for a caster. Wise lesson learned...

All in all I had fun and I learned a lot about the army. I am going to get it to 500 by adding gorman. If I take out the talon I can get a bokur and a gudrun in there. If not I am going to use Dirty meg for the talon. I am also liking the models for croes and will add them to the army. that would take me a little over 500, but that is no prob...

Question
Does blur still work when knocked down?? we voted yes, as it adds to the stat.

Blur does work for knocked down models.

One other rules point I'd like to make. Sorscha's feat makes enemy models stationary for one round; it does not knock models down. Also, her AOE spell knocks models down; it does not make them stationary. I suggest pulling out Prime: Remix and reading up on the difference between the two. Your game likely would have ended quite differently.
