My nephew just got Alpha Centauri, one of those 'Sold Out Software' jobbies that you get in a 3 for £10 offer at GAME.
Now he's scared to try it on my bro's scary Business PC, so he wants to experiment on mine. Basically, fine by me, I get a free game.
Now we put it in, and get into a sort of startup menu made by the Soldout label, with 'Play', 'Install', help etc. etc., and we press install, as per usual. It comes up with EULA: we accept. It asks if we want any help with the installing: no, i click, i think i can figure it out.
Well, apparently I can't. That box disapears and my cursor has the 'loading circle' thing next to it, accompanied by the satisfying whirring of my PC. After about 20 seconds, this dies down, no loading thing. It was like I never pressed install. I press install again, and it says that an installation is already running. Funny that, it isn't.
Now this hasn't been working for 2 days, and I'm mightily pissed off.
Any ideas? Experience?
Cheers

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags. |

Download it from the interweb instead with a crack or from Home of the Underdogs?

Mmm, I'm not sure if I want to try and torrent it, I'm just petrified that I'll feth up my new PC.
There must be a work-around with what I've got, though.

Check GameFaqs, Home of the Underdogs or the official Alpha Centuri site?

I've trawled the internet for hours.
Apparently this problem occurs sometimes with Soldout software items, but so far (annoyingly) nobody's given any solution to those that have asked.
