Just a little side project I'm considering (along with my 2nd Grenadier Guards, my Italians, my Imperial Guard, my Battletech miniatures...) is the 2nd Household Cavalry Regiment, attached to the Guards Armoured Division:

2ND HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY REGIMENT

COMMAND HQ

Company HQ w/ 3 Staghound I Armoured Cars @ 110 pts

ARMOURED CAR PLATOON
Armoured Car Platoon w/ 2 Daimler I Armoured Cars and Daimler Dingo Scout Car (AA MG) @ 95 pts
Armoured Car Platoon w/ 2 Daimler I Armoured Cars and Daimler Dingo Scout Car (AA MG) @ 95 pts
Armoured Car Platoon w/ 2 Daimler I Armoured Cars and Daimler Dingo Scout Car (AA MG) @ 95 pts
Armoured Car Platoon w/ 2 Daimler I Armoured Cars and Daimler Dingo Scout Car (AA MG) @ 95 pts

I've not gone with Littlejohns on any of the Daimlers, even though historically the 2HCR did use them. I felt that I had enough AT power with the TDs and needed the AP power instead.

HEAVY ARMOURED CAR PLATOON
Heavy Armoured Car Platoon w/ Command Daimler Dingo and 2 AEC III Armoured Cars @ 120 pts

A historically accurate unit for the 2HCR.

ARMOURED CAR SUPPORT PLATOON
Armoured Car Support Platoon w/ 3 Support Squads @ 110 pts

Is the small Armoured Car Support Platoon enough infantry support for the force? Also to use up fifteen of the last twenty points would you recommend either the Light Mortar team or the PIAT team?

ANTI-TANK PLATOON (SP), ROYAL ARTILLERY
Anti-Tank Platoon (SP), Royal Artillery w/ 4 M10C 17pdr SP @ 260 pts

My main AT unit. I thought about using an Armoured Platoon, but I wanted a reason to field the TDs.

TOTAL POINTS:
980 pts

A few other options I’ve considered:

1) As noted above, replace the Anti-Tank Platoon with an Armoured Platoon with a Firefly for 280 pts.

2) Drop one of the Armoured Car Platoons and either the Heavy Armoured Car Platoon or the Armoured Car Support Platoon for Priority Air Support.

3) Exchange one Armoured Car Platoon for one Light Anti-Aircraft Platoon with one section of either Oerlikon 20mm SP or Borfors 40mm SP. Unfortunately there are no Staghound A/A models or that would be an option as well.

Any comments and suggestions are appreciated.

That is a lot of stuff packed in 1000 points! I would definitely go with the M10Cs over the armoured platoon as they would pack more of a punch for the bigger tanks out there and with 4 of them you are going to get at least a couple of shots out of them at any circumstance. Air support might be a good idea as a backup plan though. I wouldnt bother with the AA options as the armoured car platoons should fill the role well.

Looks good!

Holy hell, that looks fun to play and not fun to purchase.

My only concern would be that if your opponent brings infantry and digs in on the objectives you're going to have an up hill fight. Ditto for an armoured force that gets the drop on those M10's. Of course that may not be your priority with this build.

Thanks for the feedback. The only possible change I'd consider at this points level is dropping one of the Armoured Car Plattons in favor of a Motor Platoon. It's just that I'm more of a treadhead and I like painting 15mm vehicles over 15mm infantry.

BTW, if any of you are interested in the history of the 2HCR check out this website for their exploits during WWII.

I may delay this project slightly. I was just rereading this about the upcoming Hell's Highway release and noted the following:

"Hell's Highway" will be the first book our in mid September focusing on the first two bridges and with lists covering 82nd & 101st US airborne, Guards tank, infantry and 2nd Cav lists with variant Irish and Welsh Guard lists as well.

To me, that can only be the 2HCR

Hi Ghaz.
How about Universal Carrier Support platoon?
6 UCs, 2 x3" mortars, 2x (towed) 6 pounder AT guns , and 2 Vickers HMGs .

And/or a motorised infantry platoon in Universal Carriers?

Its just U/Cs fit quite well with ACs IMO.

Because none of those are a valid choice for an Armoured Car Squadron in Fortress Europe nor are they likely to be an option once Hell's Highway is released.
