The models look great. I was however a little worried because I hate cleaning metal models. The models I got in the box set hardly needed any cleaning. There is usually like 4-5 times the amount of cleaning I have to do on GW metal models. Can I expect easy cleaning like this for all the privateer press medal models?

I don't know about that. Maybe you just got a fresh batch.

In my experience PP's models generally have less flash and vents than GW's. Of course there are exceptions, but that has been my experience with some 3000 points worth of different factions for WM and Hordes.

The larger creatures have terrible amounts of flash and mould lines and some have large pieces missing.

Take care with the Dire Troll Mauler for you army and if you ever wish to play Skorne, the Titan Gladiator sometimes have a half inch gap between the torso and legs (well it has on the 3 i've put together).

Probably Nurgle, Africa has the lock on that.

I find the cleaning easier due to less mould lines, but the assembly a little more fidgety due to some very weird designs.

The Skorne starter set is one selection of some of the worst minis privateer produces in terms of fitting them together. Both the savage(s) and the gladiator are terrible to put together. Other large pieces are good in my experience, the Krea I bought recently had close to no flash, and the fit of the pieces was good. I just needed to putty over some seams to make them disappear.

From what I've seen with the models is that a lot of them can be easily cleaned and seams filled with a little bit of putty. However, there are some models that are such a pain to assemble that it's hard to get them to turn out nice. For example, the Knights Exemplar are nice detailed models, but each of them come with 5 pieces and even if the shoulder pads are slightly off, the entire model looks worse off. That's not even mentioning the Cataphract considering that each model has 6 flags that all need to be individually assembled and painted (in addition to normal assembly).

I bought Trollbloods and Skorn starter boxes this weekend. I must say that I agree that these are some of the cleanest models I've ever seen, pretty much no flashing and only very limited vent material. The sculpts themselves are also fantastic, once assembled the models look great.

I must also agree that the Skorn Models are a real pain to put together, the poses seem pretty unnatural until you get them exactly right and that sort of precisision makes pinning a bit trickier than usual! Also, my gladiator was missing a leg.

I actually like the fact that you need to fill some sections on some of the models with a little putty because I enjoy the assembly part of the hobby (wierd I know!)

Generally though, I'm very happy and really looking forward to painting and playing with them.

Heheh, if you think the Skorne models are a pain to get together, try the dire trolls.
