I was thinking of the ancients assault force IAA formation and what it would look like with 6 CCW dreadnoughts and a Chaplain dreadnought running around when the idea hit me - what would a line of dreadnoughts running across the table look like? How many would that be? What if there were more than one row?

And then I thought "300 dreadnoughts."
And then I thought "40,000 points in 300 dreadnoughts."

And then I thought "What can AOBR do for me..."

Turns out 300 AOBR dreadnoughts, with 100 converted to have TLLC/ML, and all of them being given 15 points in upgrades on average, comes out to exactly 40,000 points.

So my question is - would you want to field 40,000 points in dreadnoughts?

It's a totally cool idea but you would need a huge table.

THat and ML arms on dread's consistently make me a sad panda. One ML shot per turn that always misses it seems :(

Pretty darn cool idea, though wow that would be salty to procure and paint. 300 models of that size generate a non-trivial cost in glue

30 dreadnoughts is equally annoying.

But how much glue do you think 300 dreadnoughts would require? Hm...

300 dreadnoughts..

Is it actually worth thinking about the size of the board needed?

Haha, if someone out there has the money, I'd love to see it happen!

Cheers,

Jack.

Progress would be slow, methinks. Unless you're one of those people who can paint roughly the same thing over and over for long periods of time. I have trouble sticking with my Termies and two Tac squads...

That would be impressive though. If you do it, you'll be like the guy that's in the planning stage (IIRC) of making a Baneblade/Titan transformer. Your visage will be in temples, worshiped by people throughout the gaming community. In theory.

Do it.

I went through 5+ tubes of Testors cement putting together 5 russes, 2 sentinels and 7 chimeras, plus 30 or so guard. As I recall, the non-AoBR dreads have a lot of little fiddly bits, so I would think that 100+ tubes would not be out of the question.
At 2-5$ a pop, that might become an issue

Hmm, I have a 6'x32' board, but only about 15k in orks to oppose you. I suppose I'd have time to get the other 5k in upainted orks done while you build 300 dreads, and to make a few scratch built gargants.)

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

let alone the force would never be painted...

why dont you start with say 30?
its a cool idea but way out of reasonable proportion...

Who cares if they are painted and you don't need much paint for AOBR dreads. Unfortunatly even if it is all AOBR dreads itd end up being around 4500 dollars lol.

I would be far happier with 20 2,000 point armies.
I would also get less bored painting them, and it would be more entertaining to play with and against.

Unless you're a chaos player, then even one dreadnought is one too many. Try 300 defilers if you want a REAL challenge!

Man I wish I had 300 dreads. I would love to see pictures of that many dreads in one place. And then a match with that many? To awesome for words to describe. The talk of 300 dreads makes the 10 I have seem like a small number. Man now that would be an army I would love to see.

I would LOVE to have 300 dreads, even if I did nothing but line them all up and make stomping sounds as I moved them all back and forth across the battlefield!

Wehr and I joke about me doing Codex: Dreadnought Kingdoms, but with my last anchor in 40k being chaos dreads that's becoming increasingly true ...

While 100% awesome, I'd probably have to shoot myself in the face before finishing. My 1 defiler took a solid week to build and two weeks to paint, with all the gaps / details / bigness ...

Not fond of Mech, I'd probably field 3 Dreads at max.

Still, nice 2 know I guess.

Now, 300 Battlewagons, now yer' Talkin' Mah Language!

If I were to know someone who were undertaking the mammoth task of collecting an army of 300 Dreadnoughts, I would do the following things;

i) Buy shares in spray paint and glue companies
ii) Question his sanity
iii) Suggest this is perhaps the most awesome idea since someone said "Hey, this Monica Bellucci girl - let's see if she looks good posing in front of the camera."
iv) Question his sanity again.
v) Offer to help.
vi) Question my sanity.
