Hellguns or hotshot lasguns?

Could you call the new Stormtrooper's weopons Hellguns without being a jerk?
In the last IG codex Stormtroopers had Hellguns. S3 R24 AP6 Rapid fire
Now they have hotshot lasguns, which are way better (S3 R18 AP3 Rapid fire) but don't sound nearly as cool.
Is a hotshot lasgun simply a rev-amped Hellgun?

Hellguns are/were (since ISTs still have them) AP5!!

Well, I don't see any problem with it...

As long as all you're doing is "I'm going to shoot these stormtroopers' hellguns at your marines"

Instead of "I'm going to shoot these hot shot lasguns at your marines."

As long as you don't actually try to change any rules or weapons profiles you should be in the clear.

You could also call them super soakers. Those Stormtroopers love to stay cool.

I don't think you need to ask permission to do this since it doesn't really change the game in anyway.

Yeah, I don't think people would have a real problem with you calling them hotshot lasguns OR helguns. As long as you don't mess with the stats, they should be fine.

Actually, funny story on this subject - Maybe I overlooked it, but the Hotshot Lasgun seems to have disappeared entirely. Even in the Las Weapons page in the Rulebook, There's a Hellgun and Hellpistol, but no mention of their Hotshot cousins.

Because until the new guard codex they haven't existed since 2nd ed.

Okay good so I'm not blind XD. I was flipping through the Imperial Weapons section in the rulebook like "Autogun... Lasgun... Heavy Stubber... Autocannon... Hellgun... Hellpistol... Meltagun... Next pa- ...wait a minute! Hey!"
