Round 1: vs. CSM, Dual-Lash, Mech
My opponent in round one had two Lash Princes, a Greater Daemon, 10 terminators, 2 squads of Plague Marines and 2 squads of Chaos Marines in Rhinos, a vindicator, a defiler, and obliterators. He won the roll and elected to go second. He deployed in a nice castle, with everything packed relatively tightly together.
My primary failed to come in, and one of my squads of flamers scattered onto the obliterators. Both soul grinders and the other squad of flamers scattered away from the enemy, while my plaguebearers and bloodletters hit on target, each threatening a different flank of the enemy.
My initial shooting was useless, as both tongues missed, and run moves brought the surviving flamers into cover and out of LOS, while the plaguebearers ran towards the defiler, and the bloodletters ran forward into cover.
My opponentkept his castle intact, electing to mainly shoot. He split his lashes to push the bloodletters back while pulling the plaguebearers forward into a ordnance-marker sized formation. The vindicator and obliterators concentrated their fire on one of the soul grinders, immobilizing it, while the defiler lofted a pie plate onto the plaguebearers, who between the 5+ inv and 4+ FNP, took minimal casualties. He'd kept his troops mounted in their Rhinos, so only limited fire went at the bloodletters, who took a handful of casualties.
His defiler then charged the plaguebearers, and killed a few, but didn't accomplish much.
Making up for my failure to arrive with the primary and the loss of the flamers, a squad of horrors, fateweaver, the bloodthirster, and the bloodcrushers arrived. The horrors, fateweaver, and the bloodthirster used the Plaguebearer's icon and appeared threatening his left flank, while the bloodcrushers joined the bloodletters on his right flank. The bloodletters and bloodcrushers pressed forward, as did everything else in my army that wasn't immediately engaged.
Both tongues missed again, but Fateweaver spawned one of the lash princes with a boon of mutation. The horrors shot at the obliterators and inflicted a single wound, while everything else ran forward into position for the next turn. The bloodletters found themselves in charge range of the nearest Rhino, so they charged it and managed to immobilize it.
My opponent's greater daemon arrived and promptly charged into the bloodthirster. His shooting started to falter as he seemed more concerned about getting away from the bloodcrushers and bloodletters on his right flank, but his obliterators did kill seven of the horrors. The bloodthirster and greater daemon hacked away at each other without accomplishing much. The bloodletters that were still in contact with the rhino managed to kill it.
My Daemon prince arrived and pavaned the lash prince into range of my flamers, who combined their attacks with fateweaver to take the second lash prince down. The bloodletters continued advancing into the Chaos Castle/Parking lot, multi-charging the vindicator and another Rhino, while the Bloodcrushers charged in to mop up the survivors of the first wrecked Rhino.
His terminators finally arrived, and took out the immobilized soul grinder, but it was really too little, too late by that point, as my Bloodthirster finished off the Greater Daemon, then joined with Fateweaver to charge in and take out the Terminators. My remaining Soul Grinder charged into a squad of Chaos Marines and eventually ground them away into nothing, while my bloodcrushers rampaged through his remaining vehicles and killed them. The defiler did manage to finally kill off all the Plaguebearers, only to fall victim to the Daemon Prince.
At the end of turn 5, I'd tabled him.
Game 2: Vulkan He'Stan Space Marines
Once again, I lost the roll to go first and got first turn. My opponent elected to hold everything in Reserve - I think he planned on moving on to secure objectives in later turns, since the actually objectives were randomly determined on turns 2, 4, & 6.
Unfortunately for him, that meant that I got my initial wave, and my first wave of reinforcements in and could place them to maximum effect. My primary wave came in, and a bloodthirster, bloodcrushers, fateweaver, daemon prince, and horrors arrived, taking control of the center of the table (where most of the objectives were located. My first wave of reinforcements added a soul grinder, bloodletters, and one squad of flamers to my force, which I placed in and around the center-line of the table.
His first wave of reinforcements rolled on and shot at my Daemons, but largely failed to accomplish anything of real value. In return, my Bloodthirster jumped forward and charged the first Land Raider, while one squad of flamers jumped forward to neutralize one vindicator, while the other squad arrived in position to neutralize the other one. My bloodcrushers moved towards the enemy, but couldn't charge anything this turn. The bloodthirster failed to kill the Land Raider, but did manage to immobilize it. Killing it would have to wait until the next assault phase.
Vulkan and some assault terminators got out and charged into the bloodcrushers, supported by a null zone from the just-arrived librarian. Poor rolling on my part combined with good rolls on his gutted the bloodcrushers but they managed to hang on.
I charged fateweaverin to support the bloodcrushers, but the bloodcrushers were eventually ground away. Thankfully, they did a bunch of damage in return, so only vulkan and a single terminator was left to fight fateweaver. The flamers and bloodthirster moved into position and essentially surrounded the second land raider, and the bloodthirster killed it with its precious cargo inside. Only the librarian and a single terminator survived.
That was essentially the game...I didn't think I was going to table him, and I was right, but the constant pressure and lost of his heavy hitters drove him back into a corner, far from any of the objectives. By the end of the game, all he had left was a single vindicator and razorback that were too far from the objectives to matter, and an immobilized razorback that might have contested one of the objectives, but that still left me with two.
Game 3: Lysander, 20+ Assault Terminators, and 3 LR Crusaders
This could have been a very ugly game, but on the initial drop, my tongues finally managed to do something, killing the LRC carrying Lysander and some terminators. He did manage to take out fateweaver with a charge from another squad of terminators, but those terminators were slaughtered by the bloodcrushers which charged in at them, while the bloodthirster killed the second LRC. The third one was immobilized by dangerous terrain, and eventually finished off by the bloodthirster. After that, it was largely a problem of mop-up - hunting down four scout squads that tried to stay as far away as I could.
Had the game ended after turn 5, I would have had a major victory. After turn 6, it would have been a minor one. Thankfully, the game lasted the full seven, and I managed to kill off his final model in the last assault phase, tabling him for the full massacre.
