Here is the background I have created over the past few years for my Blood Angels army. I love the concept behind parallel universes and time travel so I thought these would be fun to work with so I'd have more leeway to create a unique background for my army. I have always liked the Flesh Tearers since they are so dark and are on the verge of oblivion and madness. My army was created using their background as a template. My successor chapter are named the Red Skulls and all veterans are honored by being allowed to paint their helmets bright red. Their wars are all focused against the traitor legions and often the veterans will don the helmet from a slained Chaos champion as a mark of their battle prowess. My chapter comes from an alternate 40k universe flung far forward into the future. Only two full companies remain and they are the only survivors from their entire line of Blood Angels. To be a veteran and wear a red helmet is the goal of every Marine. The only tanks left in their armory are landraider crusaders and Baal predators. All of the Marines eschew long ranged warfare in favor of close combat, as such there are no Devastator squads and the only heavy weapons carried by Marines are found in their tactical squads.

The Red Skulls are lead by their equivalent Dante who has gained immortality by drinking the blood of slain traitor Marines. The second in command is their equivalent Corbulo who has figured out how to vastly extend the longevity of the Red Skulls following along the same lines as Dante. The Red Skulls have a large ratio of veterans who have entered a cult which they call the Death Company but they are immune to the Black Rage and are esteemed as the chapter's greatest warriors. Only these veterans wear all black, including their helmets, which is held in even higher regard than the red helmet.

The Red Skulls crossed over to our 40k universe during a warp jump taken by their lone battle barge with carries the entire chapter. The Red Skulls have made their home on a death world close by the edge of the Eye of Terror and induct native human Warriors into their ranks. The native race on the death world are akin to Zulus. The recruits are transformed into pale skinned warriors after receiving the chapter geneseed.

It looks pretty good, but I think the Death Company fluff is silly. The only Blood Angels to ever cure the Black Rage were the Lamenters, and they're the most unlucky SOBs in the galaxy (even more so than the Eldar, who can't get it up).

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

This. Plus I'd remove the bit about Crusaders and Baals. Baals are based on the Rhino STC, so I'd think they'd still have at least Rhinos.

They still have rhinos, I meant tanks with mounted guns in reference to the crusaders and Baals. DC... remember they are from an alternate universe so some there will be some differences besides the leap in time.

Why does your DC go nuts if a chaplain isn't around?

I don't like the alternate universe idea. The Imperium would go flying rodent gak over it and wouldn't let them stay.

There are actually many tales of weird occurences due to problems encountered during unsuccessful warp jumps. One of my favorites was a short story about a pre heresy company of Deathguard that made a warp jump and ended up surfacing during the immediate timeline. They were still loyalists and were hunted by the Inquisition. Time travel and alternate realities are both popular themes for science fiction in general. Just take a look at the movies such as Watchmen and the new Star Trek.

You could even put more depth into the background about how they brought about the extinction of the blood angels chapter by going back in time. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

To be honest I think a parrallel 40k universe is a bit far-fetched. Why not a long lost blood angels sucessor chapter? Perhaps after a lengthy campaign/crusade in the warp? (It fits in with them hating traitors)

Other than that, it's pretty solid.

Nope, I'm just saying that even by Sci Fi 40k standards, a whole chapter of marines coming from another galaxy like the nids is a bit 'out there'.

It's your idea, mate, you don't have to use that tone. I just think there are many simpler and more believable backrounds instead of parallel universes.

O H I am in the Webway...

I'm not too hot on the whole parallel universe but it's your chapter. All of the rest sounds good though.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you
