(Still a semi drafty version, with some concern as to canon in terms of Orks and leadership, specifically if a variant model is workable, but anyways, here is the current background for my 40k Ork Warband)

Baron Blakclaw’s Warband

Baron Blakclaw of the Bad Moonz Clan is an unimaginative and violent Warboss, which gives him a certain appeal in the eyes of many boyz. He also has a knack for collecting and managing wealth, and distributing it in ways that benefit him. It is through this trait that he manages to avoid the dirty work of tactics and strategy and gets to focus on the three things he loves most, fighting, looting, and trading.
His system is very simple, Nobz that are good with the planning things, get more teef. They win more battles for Blakclaw, he gets more stuff and teef, they get more stuff and teef. As a result, most of his Nobz come from the Blood Axe Clan.

This suits the Nobz fine, they scrap with each other now and then, but by and large share a common understanding of their role, and are happy to handle the planning, as they are best at it. They even view the warband’s Bad Moonz style as a useful sort of tactic, leading both experts and laymen in Ork kultur to underestimate the strategic abilities of the force.

So the Nobz do most of the work, and work the grand strategies, while Blakclaw bashes head in and runs the show outside of fighting. Their continued success had led more and more to join up with them, and while not a proper Waagh! Its growing size and ferocity is proving threatening to the systems his growing fleet pass by.

Blakclaw’s Warband is based in an abandoned mining facility on one of the larger asteroids in a belt at the outside of a highly populated system. Their growing fleet is allowing them to strike out further, attacking worlds and ships further and further from the system.
The system itself is known as Panopticus, and boasts 3 hive worlds and a forge world, as well as 2 dead planets rich in mineral wealth. The asteroid belt is on the furthest reaches of the system, and was used as an early mining base before the larger and higher quality deposits on the dead planets were discovered. Orks took over decades ago, and have used the mineral wealth there to supply themselves. Until Blakclaw’s rise, they were not numerous enough to pose a serious threat, especially in their fleet numbers, with merchants and Rogue Traders easily able to avoid or take on the occasional Ork ship.
Petitions from the largest of the hive worlds, Foucault’s World, closest to Blakclaws base and the most populated victims of his attacks, have been largely ignored. One company of Imperial Fists, returning from assisting in a Black Templar-led Crusade in a nearby sector, did offer assistance. The information given to them about Blakclaw’s base was inaccurate and misled them into thinking resistance would be minimal. Their intial attack on his base was a disaster, even with the element of surprise, and was followed by a strong counter attack by the Orks. Not at full strength following the Crusade, and seeing that a victory here would, if achievable, cost far too much, the company retreated and left the system, much to the dismay of the governor of Foucault’s World. In a desperate bid to protect his world, he has secretly entered into negotiations with the Tau, already exchanging some weapons (which have been largely stolen by Blakclaw anyways) for his PDF forces for mineral resources.
Their success against the Imperial Fists has emboldened the Nobz of Blakclaw’s warband, and their attacks have become more frequent and fierce, which has only drawn more tribes to the system and Blakclaw’s leadership. In time, the Imperial Fists will return to avenge their fallen brothers, and eventually the pleas for aid from the system will grow urgent enough to draw more attention. For the moment however, Blakclaws future only looks to get shinier.

Looks good. Baron seems like a good title for a Bad Moon.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.
