Chaos army:

Chaos lord:lightning claws.
termie armour.=1

khorne beserkers =12

chaos squad:heavy bolter
plasma gun.
nurgle mark.=10

chaos bikers:melta gun.
nurgle mark.=4

Tau army:

commander shas' ui=1

fire warrior shas' ui=20

kroot=10

broadside shas' ui=2

devilfish=1

Chaos turn 1

chaos got the first turn so i ran and fleeted with my khorne beserkers and covered 18 inches of ground.

i shot my heavy bolter killing 2 tau' shas' ui.

lord waiting to deep strike. and bikers turbo boostered up the field!

Tau turn 1.

the broadsides shot at my khorne beserkers and missed, while the kroot assaulted the chaos bikers. the bikers won the assault while killing three kroot, in effect causing the kroot to fall back. three kroot ran off the table edge while the others were just on the edge.

the tau shas' ui shot at the khorne beserkers and killed 3.

chaos turn 2.

the khorne beserkers covered another 18 inches of ground and assaulted the tau warriors. all but one died. Yay khorne.

the bikers in assault killed 2 more kroot and the chaos marines once again shot at the devilfish and it exploded.

tau turn 2.

the warriors retreated slightly leaving room for the boadsides to attack. They anhilated the khorne beserkers and killed all of them. The bikers the wiped out the kroot and consolidated towards the commander. all the tau had left were the 2 broadsides and shas' ui.

Chaos turn 3.

the chaos lord deepstriked right next to the broadsides, however was unable to harm them with his measly pistol. The bikers assaulted shas' ui and killed him and then consolidated towards the broadsides while the chaos shot their heavy weapon and killed a broadside.

tau turn 3

the broadside wounded the chaos lord and then assaulted him, in effect taking another wound. then the lord attacked back and destroyed the broadside.

overall the chaos survived with 10 chaos space marine a lord with one wound and four bikers.

i personaly think that the people that did the best job were the khorne beserkers. i am gonna start a all khorne chaos army. i already have kharn the betrayer, a defiler and 30 odd khorne beserkers. i am looking forward to learning the out flanking rule.

Khorne Berserkers dont have the Fleet special rule; according to the codex, they have Fearless, Furious Charge and Mark of Khorne.

Even if they did have it, you arent using it properly. Fleet of Foot is not another base 6" of movement between the Shooting and Assault phase. Per p.75 of the BRB:

"There are many variants of this rule: Fleet of Foot, Fleet of Claw, and even Fleet of Hoof. Title aside, all models with these abilities are treated the same. A unit with this rule may assault in the same turn in which it has run."

Since Khorne Berserkers do not have the Fleet special rule, the most you could have moved was 6" (movement phase) + d6 (Run in lieu of Shooting). Units that do not have Fleet can not assault following a Run move in the Shooting phase, while units that DO have Fleet (like many/most Eldar) can Move 6" - Run d6" (instead of Shooting) - Assault.

That said, your misunderstanding of the rule took 12-18" of precious tablespace from the Tau force, which may have had a significant impact on the outcome of the match.

sorry. i just had a look at the 5th rulebook and it states exactly what you just said, i guess i was getting my info from the 4th edition.

Thanks for the report. It was a nice read.

Further tips:

-Your chaos lord should have died instantly if he took a wound from a railgun. He used railguns right? Unless the broadside had advanced stabilization system it can't shoot heavy weapons and assault in the same turn.

-Are you sure you got the stats of plasma gun and heavy bolter right? Because it is impossible for the hb to explode a devilfish unless it targeted the rear. In case you knew that then you must have been very lucky with your plasma gun.

-In future remember to buy rhinos or even land raiders for you berzerkers! That way they can move 12" a turn (but not assault if they disembarked from a moving vehicle). After all berzerkers are something that everyone fears.

im not a big fan of rhinos but i could use my land raider to transport them.

i just find its pointless getting an eighteen pound tank that explodes in the first or second turn, only to cover twelve inches of ground. overall i prefer land raiders lol!
