not looking to start anything yet but i am highly curious how many locals i have access to on this site, just post a simple reply, if you live in Calgary and are also looking for others to casually combat with, include your army's and whatnot for future reference, so we could possibly set up times and places for tourneys or one on ones in this grand city of ours, i'm sure your well aware sentry box always has tabletops free for usage whenever we like, so long as the doors are unlocked mind you, and i would imagine games workshop allows the use of tables during business hours but im not completely sure.

Me and my buddy just started getting back into 40k after a long hiatus... I play Marines, he plays Nids.. Haven't played any games outside of us messing about but I've just finished stripping like 3-4k of marines and he is in the process of updating his Nids.

I think there was a post about people in Calgary awhile ago.. Not too sure what happened to it, I wasn't paying much attention to it.

How often are there games at sentry box? Just wondering, I've heard good things about it, never been tho.

I'm in Calgary right now, but I'll be going to Lethbridge for university on Wednesday, and won't be back for a while. I'll be back for Thanksgiving, Xmas, and Summer though.

I've never been to sentry box, since it's pretty far from the house, and I don't have my liscense yet(have the car though... need more practice before I put my money down for the test though), so I never got around to getting there. Perhaps we can all have a game on Thanksgiving weekend, if they're open then.

Has anyone actually been to the sentry box when they hold their 2000 point battles on the weekends twice a month? Wondering if its worth my time trying to finish as much of my marines up and seeing if I can get a game there...

tables are free any day of the week save for saturday and friday night for DnD and magic respectivly but if you roll in on a thursday in the middle of the afternoon they'll let you set up a table and play.

Sounds awesome, I will have to head over sometime and play a game. Maybe next wednesday or thursday since im busy this week.

Players that I know in the Calgary region: Myself, Ithinarine (also on the site) and two others from our little gaming group, but the other three are based in Cochrane, so heading out would be more tricky for them.

At the moment I've got two 2K+ fantasy armies, and a mere 1K points for 40K, which I'd like to have more painted before I head out on the town. Maybe we could make a list or something for casual pickup games.

I have about 4kish of marines, but would never play anything near that much, I'd play at casual game here and there no problem at all.

There is a large group of gamers in Cow Town that have their own site and forum and are very welcoming. Lots of different armies and skill levels. Thy used to meet at the Sentry Box on Mondays, but moved to a different place for some reason (I left the country areound the same time they changed locales) The Saturday stuff is hit and miss, but the guy who organizes those games and the bif Tourneys at the Radisson in May and October is on this site as well. www.ultimate-gamer.net

I've never gamed there, but I do know they are hosting a 3000 pt Hard Boyz Tourney for WFB on the 26th with at least 20 slots. I assume (cue the Benny Hill skit) it's a fair sized place. I think its on par with the Compu Soft in Red Deer where the GROTZ run their club out of. The guys in the club are Ace and a lot of fun.

I used to play at Eastridge Hobbies in Riverbend up until they stopped having their Sunday games.

a friend and i go down to the box reguarly to pickup units or play a round on one of the finest tables iv ever laid eyes and hands upon thus far, and ill be fee in the days surrounding thanksgiving as will my space marine buddy, he has roughly 1500 points of marines and once my 2nd squad of fire warriors is built ill be nearing 1500 myself, were about 6 matches deep and starting to figure out the stats for our armies, talk about fun though, i have a hankering to play nearly everyday.

Well, it looks like Sentry box is closed on the monday.. So either sunday or saturday would be our best bets.. Maybe even friday depending on when people are available.
