Hello,
i've been on Dakka Dakka for a while, but just recently registered, and thought this part of the forum might be the best place to find answers to my questions.

I've been reading alot about the Horus Heresy lately, and i learnt alot about the Primarchs.

I Lion El'Jonson - Loyal
II - Unknown
III - Fulgrim - Traitor
IV - Perturabo - Traitor
V - The Kahn - Loyal
VI - Russ - Loyal
VII - Dorn - Loyal
VIII - Night Haunter - Traitor
IX - Sanguinus - Loyal
X - Ferrus Manus - Loyal
Xi - Unknown
XII - Angron - Traitor
XIII - Guilliman - Loyal
XIV - Mortarion - Traitor
XV - Magnus the Red - Traitor
XVI - Horus - traitor
XVII - Lorgar - traitor
XVIII - Vulkan - Loyal
XiX - Corax - loyal
XX Alpharius & Omegon - I'm not gonna put traitor because i dont think they are genuinely traitor.

So we got 2 "Unknown" Primarchs.

But in the Dawn of War video game, the Blood Raven clearly say "For the Unknown Primarch!" and are mentionned several times as being searching for their lost history and Primarch.

So my question at long last, brothers.
Is the Blood Raven's Primarch their original one? Or do you think they "inherited" this Primarch from their founding Legion (if its the case)?

The Blood ravens are made of mis-matched marines, i think. They are not from a single legion, so they achualy dont know who's there primarch(s).

I might be wrong.

GW will never reveal who the "unknown" primarchs are, they have left them open ended to allow players an excuse to create their own chapter with no real limitations. 1 for traitor marines and 1 for loyalists.

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

Well i think the 2 Unknown Primarch allowed players to create their own Legion with their own fluff and all.

But this whole Blood Raven thing is disturbing me. Lord Loss, what makes you say the Chapter is but an amalgam of several Space Marines?

In dawn of war: Dark Crusade the Chaos Lord called the Blood ravens captain brother. They also have alot of Libarians etc.

So there possibly a mix of loyalist thousand son/word bearers.

They are ment to be desended from loyalist Thousand sons, hence the Libarians and the bother comment. They more than likely say 'the forgotten Primarch' because if they shouted 'For Mangus the Red' the Inq. would be slightly annoyed and more than likely begin to purge them.

It is not necessarily thousand sons. It really could be any legion or chapter except the space wolves or world eaters really, people think 1ksons because of the librarians, but that could just be something about their recruitment worlds, as their gene-seed would not affect psychic ability. They could also be a blood angels or raven guard successor chapter, as the purpose of BA successors is to try and cure the flaw, and the raven guard have geneseed problems too. It could be the word bearers, because of Eliphas the Inheritor's comment, but then again, all space marines call each other brothers, so it could just be Eliphas trying to get under his skin (it worked, too)

All in all I dont think there is a clear-cut answer, I will say that blood ravens are among my favorite space marine chapters though.

It's the "unknown" primarch because they don't actually know where their geneseed came from (supposedly it is thousand sons, which would explain why they weren't told).

except it makes no sense for a legion to be made using traitor geneseed, the high lords of terra have samples of traitor geneseed, but they have (semi)replenishable stocks of loyal geneseed, so why on earth would they use their 3 samples of thousand sons geneseed over their 907 blood angels samples or 5407 ultramarine samples?
