Outside of video game music I'm really into metal/rock/classic rock.

Mainstream stuff sound's like Crap I'd cram into a Sonic Blaster.

The Command and Conquer: Red Alert games all had absolutely smashing soundtracks.

I also have an orchestral version of all the music from SSBM, which is top notch.

Most stuff by Frank is sweet as feth, except for Red Alert 3, that one was weak. And whoever did the Harkonen soundtrack for Emperor: Battle of Dune also deserves kudos.

Dawn of War 2 has some gems, the British theme from Company of Heroes - Opposing Fronts is ace and the main theme from Henry Hatsworth is sweet.

Blizzard's music has always been some of my favorite whether its the Terran song from Starcraft 2 or ridiculous parodies like "I'm a medieval man".

Hell March is a classic as well...

Zelda: Ocarina of the Time is loaded with greats especially the windmill song IIRC.

In which case, listen to the prodigy, either warriors dance, spitfire or omen, all great songs, but have to be played loud

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

The Halo soundtracks have always been high on my list. Specifically, 'Under cover of night' and 'One Final Effort'. Dawn of War had some great stuff, particularly the IG and SM themes.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

+1 for Bubble Bobble. Heh heh... It's stuck in my head again now, damn it. Also Warcraft (Blizzard) was mentioned. My Warcraft 2 disk still lives in my car as a music CD.

Baldurs Gate 2 is brilliant, and the Guilty Gear series is full of cock-rock prog-metal written and performed by the series designer himself.

Can't pass up mentioning Fallout 3 for the sheer bizarre contrast of it all.

I have a couple of mix CDs in the car with various Final Fantasy tracks, mostly from X.

I don't have a favourite, I guess, but I do love well rounded OSTs.

My favorite would have to be Final Fantasy 8's sound track... I have the 4 disc OST, 1 cd with orchestrated selections, and 1 cd with selections done in just piano.

I have a copy of the game Chrono Cross but have never really played it much... I should try it out, maybe I'll like the soundtrack to that. My exwife and I used to really dig the soundtrack to Xenogears.

Devil May Cry I think has an awesome soundtrack... if I had a copy of that and played it over and over again maybe that would be my new fave

God of War has some good stuff during the boss fights. The Guardian Minotaur and Zeus themes really stand out.

Its not really an OST but I think the Battlefield music that has been used for every title is probably the best defining song for an IP since Star Wars. (maybe not but kinda)

Masato Kato and Yasunori Mitsuda are the writer and composer for both games. Mitsuda's soundtracks are always strong, but
chrono cross and xenogears are probably his two most popular. I think chrono cross' soundtrack is better but your mileage may vary. They are similar sounding probably since they were made around the same time. Chrono Cross concentrates more on strings and a celtic/folk sound. It's my favorite OST. The game itself can be confusing since it's translation was a bit poor. I recommend this site if you want to work out the plot: http://www.chronocompendium.com/

If you made it through xenogears than I think Chrono Cross' plot is a lot less complicated

FFXI has at least 11 CD's of music. The collectors edition comes with sheet music for the piano, which is an interesting bonus.

Silent Hill 3 is one of mine, just for 'Rain of Brass Petals - three phases edit' on its own. Although the rest of it is pretty awesome as well.

I'd also agree about Blizzard's music, heck I want to try and find WotLK OST just so I can have Grizzly Hill's music playing in the background while I paint.
